I prefer snap on. Pricey but I know my snap on dealer will take care of me if I break any.

I would also definitely recommend starter punches, roll pin holders, and roll pin punches onto the list. Those all make life easier.
If you are on a budget there are only 3 sizes you need, only 2 to do a lower. I bought them individual from brownells.
#2 - for forward assist and gas tube
#3 - for bolt catch
#4 - for trigger guard
All sizes in 1/32".
The flat sided bolt catch punches are for removal of the pin from front to back, they're flat tipped. Bolt catch pin is supposed to be installed back to front, it can hit the fence on the mag well if installed from the front.
What is the groups experience with Lyman punches? Junk?
