I bought one a while back and have yet to find any kind of "blem" at all. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Give Grant a shout at G&R Tactical. That's where I bought mine.
Good luck!

I hate these threads. Every time I see "Blemished upper" I run to the BCM website to see if they've got complete blem uppers for $400 w/ BCG and CH OTD like the good ole days.
In my experience, BCM blemished uppers are from a different forge than the regular (retail) uppers.
The blemished upper that I purchased came from the Brass Aluminum forge (square mark) where as all of my retail uppers and BCM factory built carbines have come from Anchor Harvey (spilt A mark). I don't know who does the machining for the upper, whether it is done on house by BCM or at the forge, but I prefer the Anchor Harvey uppers. They seem to fit tighter.
I am not a professional gun smith but just a home tinker-er.
The forge marks make no difference. I've got blem uppers that are from the same forge as my factory uppers.
Your case is purely coincidental.
