By the job I mean can it hold up to real world situations. For example a drop from shoulder height on a gun, with out the mount bending. Resulting in the loss of zero.

I have their light mount and I have not dropped it but it is SOLID. I cant get any bend, play or movement. The clamp its solid. I think this thing its solid and would withstand a good hit with no issues
I assumed all those skeletonized lightweight mounts were for and used on "botique" or competition guns.
Pretty but flimsy looks like to me. Surely nobody is taking these things into harms way?
There's a lot of assumptions and speculation here. A few questions:
1) Has anyone here seen ANY brand or type of quality optic mount (US or European, not $3 Chinese junk) break? How and under what conditions?
2) More specifically, has anyone seen the Aero Precision optic mount break or fail in use?
3) Has anyone done a finite element analysis or other serious engineering study of the lightweight mounts vs. heavier mounts? (Note that what seems strong from looks and intuition is not always what turns out to be strong when engineered.)
Bobro. Recoil lug sheared.
LaRue. Shot loose even when so tight paracord was used to remove it if it came to being removed, prior to it shooting loose.
These are things I have seen pictures of, or heard from people beyond reproach on the subject. Not something I have personally seen. Both occurred on .308s. The Bobro was a sample size of 1, the LaRue, many many many.
Call Sport Optics and they will work with you on a good price.
Some places like brownells, ect might sell one or 2 variations, but to get the exact one you want (say 20MOA extra extended in 34mm with X height) you are going to have to go with Eurooptic, Sportoptic, Milehigh, ect. All should give you a good price over the phone.
Ive bought 6 Bobro's this way, and could not be happier with the product or service from the sellers.
