No, you're getting a top tier German optic that outclasses the other options at that price point.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to give it a shot. I only use illumination on my Nightforce in low light, so I'm not worried about daytime brightness.
Every one seems happy, so thats always a good sign to me.
Awesome heads up that. Thank you, I know where I'll get it from now!
I am aware of this optic, and have given it some serious thought. The weight is what holds me back. I'm a bit of a weight snob, the Nightforce and Trijicon are around 17oz and that about my limit.
Any thoughts on the durability of the AccuPower? Comparable to an ACOG or Nightforce, or not quite there?
I think the weight issue is overblown, and I am planning on picking up Steiner as well. The only issue about the Steiner is the funky design of the illumination knob: (This is secondhand, but I believe accurate):
While it has "off" position in between "on" settings, the off merely puts it to sleep. If enough time passes by with the knob at the in between "off" position, the illumination will actually completely shut off, and you will have to turn it to the complete "off" position and back on.
I own the Trijicon accupower 1-4 with segmented circle reticle and I've used Joshnc's Steiner. If I didn't get Trijicon at dealer cost, the Steiner is a no brainer. A couple extra ounces in exchange for better turrets, daylight brightness, and excellent glass is worth it.
Heck, I've almost convinced myself to get one anyways. :)
To me weight isn't so much the extra 4-6 oz, but where that weight is (at the top of the rifle). I see the added weight more in lateral transitions with the moment arm of scope above the center of gravity of the weapon.
Usually not too big deal on an AR, but with the SCAR the higher rail really makes me notice it - obviously n/a for those who don't use one.
YMMV, but I'm really happy with the 1-4x24 Accupoint.
I have an Accupower with green segmented circle. So far, so good. I just got it zeroed but I think it's a great optic for the price.
I have my Steiner on an AR with Noveske N4 16" mid length, KMR-alpha rail, LMT SOPMOD stock and magpul MIAD. The weight is really not an issue on this rifle. I'm curious how it would feel on my SCAR and may try the Steiner on it just to see. I did install it on my SIG 553 SBR just for grins and it does indeed feel quite heavy on that rifle. Though kind of silly to put a low power variable on an 8.9" barreled SBR.
Interesting. How long does it take for this to occur? I've had mine on the last "off" setting just past the highest illumination setting for about a month.
You need one.....;)
That was my plan but how easy is the reticle to see outdoors if your battery died?
I've had my Accupower with the red segmented circle for a couple months now and I love it. The 1x is nice and low and I haven't had issues using it in close. The BDC has been dead on for me out to 600yds with M193. That's as far as I've been able to see impacts with it and the long range is almost a three hour drive. The segmented circle is easy to use without illumination and at night I usually just use 6 or 7. When I first got it I left it on setting 6 for just over 490 hours before I replaced the battery. It wasn't dead yet but when I turned it to 11 it dimmed back down to around 6.
