Help me decide on a hard use 1-4

I just had the chance to look at another one a couple hours ago and at its brightest setting I still couldn't see it in the daylight. I could swear that the one I looked at a while back with the green segmented circle reticle was daylight bright, but I could be mistaken.

Steiner Military from Europtic if you want a 1-4x.

Vortex Razor HD if you want a 1-6x.

Out of curiosity is there any compelling reason not to go with the SR4C?

USO for one.

Steiner 1-4 $699 from europtic Ive got 2, very nice daytime bright.
Vortex 1-6 very nice get a nice used one 1,000-1200 Ive had them before would like to pick up another.
Kahles 2,200 don't know if the price difference makes it better than the the 2 scopes above.
USO 1-4src, would be nice, but I have no experience with the USO.
Id also say the Elcan 1-4, Ive got 3 have had zero issues with the mount or zero shift, those were only issues on the Gen1 series, I love my Gen3's.
Best bang by far is the Steiner.

Id go with an Elcan or Vortex.

Mine just arrived today. It is very, very nice - no range time yet, but the glass is phenomenal and the dot cranks up to "too bright".

With your budget, Kahles K16i with the SM1 reticle. The only reason not to buy the K16i is budget. Huge field of view, daylight bright, great eyebox, light weight, great glass, good reticle and while I don't beat the snot out of mine I have no doubt it is very well built.

That budget and your goals line up perfectly with the K16i by Kahles. If you don't buy one now, you will after you look through one, lol

That model is still produced. I have one myself.

If you have never used a scope on your AR, then I would pick-up a Vortex PST 1-4 or Leupold 1-4X variant to try it our first. If the concept of using a magnified optic works for you then pick-up something better down the line.

I think the Vortex PST 1-4X is nice entry-level scope for the money.

If I were considering using a magnified optic for duty use, self-defense, or combat, then the two scopes on my list would be the S&B Short Dot 1-4X CQB 20mm and the Night Force NXS 1-4X with the FC reticle principally because both are known quantities with a record of reliability.

One thing to keep in mind as well is the added weight. A Short Dot and mount could add almost two punds to the weight of the rifle.
My S&B SD 1-4X with an ADM mount is 30.35 Oz.
