Thanks for that write up, it helped me narrow down what I'm looking for in a mount as I'm in a similar boat to OP.
Head position (height) and eye relief was not something I gave as much thought to before reading that when considering mounts for an LPV. I come from red dots and irons primarily on the AR platform.
Now I just have to figure out if I want the versatility of a QD mount (Bobro) or the security of a fixed unimount from Badger ordnance or Nightforce.
Leupold mk 2 is a really nice non qd mount for $80 if your looking at the other non qd's.

The Bobro allows you to quickly remove (one handed according to the Mfg.) and re-install the mount. Great if you need or want to quickly access back up iron sights, or swap an optic to another gun without tools. If you don't need to do that then the side clamp bolts are fine. The optic can be removed (but not quickly) with a small wrench, and re-installed with a torque wrench preferably. Ease and speed of moving the optic is the difference aside from price differences.Quote:

No problem. That was my go to method before the little wedge thingies were available. It is slower, as you have to trial and error your way to the correct thickness of leaf stack that will just fit between the mount and the underside of the erector housing, but I think it is actually a little more consistent as you are using a wide shim that absolutely will not let the scope rotate as the rings are tightened down. I put a strip of painters tape on the scope mount and the scope to make it a little easier to pull the gauge out once the rings are tight. If you can't pull the gauge out with just a little resistance then then you probably had one too many gauge leaves in there when the rings were tightened down.Quote:

Bushnell pulled the plug on their dual focal plane variant (confirmed as canceled) and both the SFP and FFP variants aren't that good.
