We can pick up any latest and greatest from Glock, S&W, H&K, ect and the guns are generally reliable out of the box and need little maintenance for the average shooter and any work they might need are usually drop in parts that anyone can do.
Now take a 1911, it requires a little more knowledge and understanding of what's occurring and most parts require fitting and adjustment. Most people don't want to spend time tinkering or messing with it or even worse, pay someone to fix an issue and would rather spend time putting rounds down range.
Like AR's, there are 1911's from "the list" to buy and avoid and find that the modern day 1911 is extremely reliable with the right owner.
From a CC standpoint, we all have different requirements but for the average person I do not think the magazine capacity is limiting, especially if one carries an extra mag.
