Hey guys,
I want to rebarrel my 6721 with something lighter. I don't care about the M4 profile (pro or con) I just want something high quality and light. Any suggestions?
Further, where is the best place to get it done? How much? :D:D

Give Grant a call and see if you can get on of those Noveske N4 tubes put on. Put a quality barrel on your Colt.
keep an eye out for a Colt 6520 barrel (2lb 0.3oz as shown + gas tube)

Found these at Numrich...

No flash hider, but Adco could prolly thread one... It's a 6530 barrel but I'm pretty sure that's about the same as a 6520 but without the flash hider.
With the threading and pinning a FSB assembly it's still probably cheaper than an all new colt barrel.
Shoot, if you really wanted get Adco to cut it to 14.7", pin an A2 and put on a FSB...
Then again, you could just send your existing barrel and have it recontoured.

I've had several similar barrels reprofiled to various weights. I'd not think twice about doing a 6721. Keep the quality barrel and get the weight you want.
Second choice- Acquire AR6520 (Gov Carbine) barrel, or Noveske N4.
Go quality, man. There are a few dealers selling LMT and Noveske barrels. Or you may want to replace the whole upper with a LMT or BCM upper.
as for installing, buy a set of pin punches and a barrel nut wrench and do it yourself.
go here for the barrel that you need/want :

or you can send it here: http://www.specializedarmament.com/c..._15-201-0.html
let us know how you done.
Where can you find a lightweight Colt barrel for under $450 (Specialized), that isn't gunbroker or a member sales forums.
Next: is there a problem with contouring a barrel other than cost ($95 from Adco - includes refinishing)?
If you're talking about a non-Colt barrel then I guess I get it, I was only talking about the cost of an all Colt replacement.
Because after you are done, you are left with a non factory barrel worth pennies on the dollar and you had to spend even more money to get to this point. If you want to change configuration and want to sell this, you will lose money.
Using a reprofiled or cut down barrel is only for super custom jobs, IMHO. Not for a general fighting gun.
Like much else, I suppose the merits and liabilities are subjective.
For a guy prone to change config, and/or that wants to keep resale in mind, reprofiling may not be the best answer. But, a 6721 is a solid base gun with a good sustained value. Detrimental effect on value would seemingly be much less than with a lesser base gun/barrel.
For the guy with a 6721 wanting to run the gun in the long term, reprofiling gives him best value.
