I have a few Vasque hikers that I wear a lot. They've worn well, and are comfortable.
Salomon xa pro 3D Forces have been holding up great for the last few months.
Comfortable, light weight, relatively warm.
That's the way we roll in Sk8land.

They are slightly padded, and very comfortable. The toe box isn't tight per se, but I can feel it on the top of my big toe when I put them on after I haven't worn them for awhile. I wear 12's and they are true to size. I just bought them to run around in.
US Elite carries them. Our issued boots at work blow and after buying a pair of XA pros for hiking, I'm pretty hooked so I'm going to pick up a pair for duty as well. They're Not quite as comfortable as my Lowas but they're a lot lighter and I like the lacing system better for getting on/off quickly. My only bitch with the XA pros is that they have a ton of arch support and I have no arch.

Good stuff. Thanks guys.
Love it.
The padding definitely provides more ankle support than standard Chucks.
