I really crapped my can up with some Wolf. Going to ultrasonic it. I will before/after weigh it. Should do this Monday. That said, I think if you soak the can in CLR after every range trip, yes it's a PITA, but I bet it's better than waiting 6mo and paying another $200.
Other than the wait and the new stamp I am extremely pleased with AAC and their CS dept. I think it might be and stress might be fair to say that they were aware of the potential for build up as the can design always exhibited quite a bit of back pressure and fouling to the bore. Regardless I am very optimistically awaiting the new SR5 and mounts they are providing in exchange for the SPR-M4. As old as I am and as deaf as I am, shooting suppressed is mandatory for me to preserve what little I have left. The thread adapter arrived from Brownell's today so I can use my direct thread .30 cal can until this one clears the paper process.
Once again I can't say enough good things about how AAC handled this for me..
For most sealed can combinations, no maintenance is required. However, there are some combinations that may benefit with some maintenance with sealed cans. Be it water (when rated for it), certain NH3 solutions, and/or an acetate solutions, etc., or a combination of. Some may benefit from those, ultrasonic and mechanical methods help non sealed cans when disassembled for the direct contact of that type.
