Wow no kidding. I have an octane 9 pending right now(looking like January for now), so it's definitely an interesting bit of information. Thanks for the share

I do not have first-hand experience with all of the listed, but I have used the AAC, Dead Air, Thunderbeast, Surefire, and Silencerco offerings. I will second the advice to get a dedicated 5.56 can, and a 30 cal can. If I could start over silencer-wise for rifles, I would start with a Surefire 300 SPS and a 556 mini. If you want quiet on a 5.56, you can still use the 300 for a very acceptable decibel reduction. If you just want to take the edge off, and have a shorter and lighter package, throw the mini on. The 300 SPS works very well with 300 blackout, as well as 308. You could get a 5.56 socom II later, but the mini and 300 sps really does a good job of covering the bases on what you need. Also, you retain the ability to use the same muzzle devices on everything. As someone with cans from two different manufacturers, I wish I would have gone that route.
Hand down Surefire. If you didn't need to swap between 5.56 and 7.62 I would add the KAC QDC to the list as well but the QDC suppressors use different mounts between 5.56 and 7.62.
The Surefire SOCOM II suppressors are some of the quietest I've heard, I find their tone very pleasing to the ear as it's a lower pitch. Also, I believe that Surefire and KAC both have the best mounting system on the market.

If you are considering a sandman L, you should really consider the sandman S. Of those listed, I would go with the surefire rc2, but would also reiterate the advice to go with 2 caliber specific cans.
I wish I did not have my AAC can. If I were to buy another 5.56 supressor, it would be the Sake K. I echo the sentiments of getting dedicated cans for multiple calibers. If you have a .30 cal gun, use a .30 cal can. If you have a 5.56 gun, use a 5.56 can.
Ok, so I'm seeing that most people are saying no to aac. As I have never experienced their suppressors, mind filling me in on why everyone is saying no to them? Aside from being old technology, they seem rather appealing based on the materials and some other people's accounts
^^^^ mount design AAC rachet<Sig Taper< Q by pictures is direct thred but they should release a qd version this upcoming shot show.
All 3 companies started/ran by Kevin Brittingham and engineering of Ethan Lessard.
Materials is really based on what you plan to use the silencer for full auto, light weight etc.
As other members have said OP look into a dedicated 556 and 308 silencer. It really is a pain to swap around hosts.
If I were you wait til the upcoming shot show to see what industry has to offer. But if your itch is now I would get a dead air silencer for their mount/muzzle brake design.
I think the main detriment to the AAC sytem is how it attaches. The idea is sound, but in practice it is not the best way. We have an m42k and an sdn-6 on the range for use on our rental rifles. Both have been back to AAC to replace the latch, which wore down to the point it was no longer holding the can on. If you look at the SiCo ASR mount, it is similar, but better. In fact, the saker AAC back end (the conversion kit that allows the saker to use AAC mounts) uses AAC 51T mounts, but has the ASR locking ring instead of the spring-loaded latch that AAC uses. Yes the baffle stack is a bit outdated, but with an upgraded attachment, I would have no problem using an ACC.
We run about 8 or so AAC cans... 2 18T mounts and the rest are 51T. There hasn't been a single issue with any of them with the exception of someone placing a 5.56 can on a .30 cal rifle.
One of the members here was part of the 51t design and explained how they'd made changes to his original design/tooth count which made it less optimal. I forget the exacts. But none the less, if you hold the latch open when mounting the can, you won't dull the latch teeth.
I'd buy a 51t can in a minute if I needed a suppressor and found one priced well.
Specwar 556 K. No contest.
Affordable. Built like a tank with a full stellite baffle stack (it was belt fed rated before that was even a thing). Solid QD mounting system. Did i mention AFFORDABLE?
Also, very quiet.
