Alright just for kicks what kind of rail covers you all perfer and why?

I don't use much in the way of rails period, but for covering the portion of a rail on an upper receiver not occupied by a rear sight and/or optic, or the rare other instances when I need a handguard rail covered I use the ladder style. I tend to buy no-name knockoffs off Amazon because they are way cheaper than the name brand ones and I'm always cutting them up into various lengths.
KAC and Ergo/Magpul ladders because they seem to multiply over the years
I'm thinkin on tryin the KAC just bc I have found packs of like 12 mag pul seems gotta be individual

Simple ladder type rail covers are my #1 choice, because they weigh half as much as most other options and are easy to add/remove. I think Ergo makes nearly all of them regardless of who sells them.
I often use one full-profile cover on the bottom rail where I place my hand. I don't care much which exact style, but most often I use Ergo again, largely because I got a bunch of them on clearance years ago. Rail covers at MSRP are massively overpriced.
Yes they are it's bs it's just rubber for cryin out loud

As an FYI - KAC will either be perfectly tight or will wiggle a little bit. Not sure if it's new ones, used ones or a mix.
I'd like too try the magpul xts but $12 a piece is kinda bs in my book

Have used the ergo/magpul/whoever ones and they work pretty well and would likely be in my top three for rail cover choices. Have used the KAC ones before, though not in a while, they work for what they are, but not my first or even third choice. Also used the Magpul XTM covers, liked them for being secure, though there was a little wiggle with some, not easy off either for those who care. They get the job done, though are a bit wide in my opinion, liked the texture for grippiness over the ergo ones which can be a tad slick. The ones I honestly like the most are the Larue index clips, easy one, pretty easy off though not too easy, and easy to adjust length of coverage as needed. Being able to plumb by weapon light switch cord is a nice bonus too.
I bought some knock off midwest keymod panels to see if I'm gonna like this t. I literally built a try-out rifle. Usually a M4gery guy, but wanted to try something more modern?
$6 at Midway.

I run keymod rails and use BCM's covers.
Other than price, no complaints.
For Pic rails I use LaRue index clips, I have yet to get any for my M-Lok stuff and don't have any KedMdo handguards.
For rails I use the ladder style, too. They're low profile and weigh next to nothing. For keymod rails I use BCM's covers.
I wish I could find a 3 pack of the magpul XTs for like $20 lol

At 9.00 each its 18.00 for 3.
For pic rails, I like the TangoDown SCAR rail covers. I sometimes use ladder covers. For keymod, the BCM covers are great.
Ladders on all my pic rail hand guards except my RAS, which gets the KAC covers. MLOK I leave naked.
Eh it was $18 only got two for now

Ladder style for rails and the BCM for my Keymod. I've tried some monstrum tactical keymod rail panels and the 2" Picatinny Rail Covers but they seem too bulky for me.
Yep new math lol. Sorry brain fart yes two was 18.00 and 3 were 27.00. Thinking one thing and typing another. Sometimes brain and fingers dont work as one anymore thanks to the tbi. Samething between talking and thinking. Sometimes i think and mean one thing and say something wrong or completly opposite.
my KACs came with rail covers so I put them on and like them. My DD did not come with rail covers and I have not bothered to spend any money to fix that. Unless you get the barrel really warm, I'm not sure what value rail covers really have
For me it was about the textured grip, the BCM keymod covers are thin and have a nice non-slip feel. Helping with the heat is also a plus.

I put Midwest Industries panels on my BCM KMR, mostly because I liked their small handstop, but also because (for aesthetics) I wanted to match the OD of the Magpul components I was using. I ended up dying a BCM Gunfighter grip and a Tango Down stubby vertical grip to match the overall OD theme. Just wanted to see what I could do to match up all the accessories, since my rifles had been all black up to that point. I do really like the feel of the MI Keymod panels, but they were a little pricey and a bit of work to install.
I use Magpul ladders on the top rail on all my handguards, since they minimize the profile on the taller top rail. On standard railed hanguards, like my M4 at work, I like Magpul's old XT panels. Not sure why - they're a little bulky - but I like the smooth round profile they create. I have to say, though, the M4 handguard gets pretty bulky with rail panels and a PEQ-15 on the top.

Here's mine with the XT pannels on the side and ladder on the top, I like the XT covers texture, just feels like my hand won't slip off I guess. I'm happy with em but they kinda suck too put on

I like the Knights Armament 11 rib rail covers. They work well with my fat hands. Three rails will cover the sides and bottom of a carbine rail perfectly. I do run the cheap Chinese Ladder rail protectors on some of my weapons and they are good too.
Attachment 45897
I use the ladder ones in my quad rail BCM middy....low profile and cuts down on the cheese grater effect on my hands...
I have the "new" DD rail covers (hated the look at first, now don't even notice it) on sides and bottom of a SlimRail, but use ladders on the top.

I've always had good luck with LaRue index clips. At first I was somewhat concerned about if they'd stay on, but that's never been a problem. They also do a great job with keeping my hands burn free.
