2) covid-19 does appear to be more virulent then others. I know there's multiple axis of how contagious versus how deadly, etcetera.
3) China's initial response made this worse. Instead of sharing information they denied and excluded.
4) we were caught flat-footed and it appears some federal policies and agencies actually made the situation worse.
5) the pandemic response in reality has exposed very serious concerns about supply chain for protective gear and medications. With severe short-term impact on protective gear and potential longer-term impact on pharmaceuticals.
6) the media onslaught might be driving public over-reaction, but it's also good in the aspect that people are doing things we probably should have been doing anyway. (Handwashing, etc)
7) only time will tell about the number of hospital beds. Some would imply we won't need it. Others clearly state it's a risk. I know in my state very large quarantine camps are being set up. I know this as first-hand knowledge for one in a state park. Given we're in Georgia colocated with the CDC, the fact they are doing this is significant to me. It's not because TV news is overhyping.
8) in my extended family we have multiple 85 to 90 years old. Some are fairly healthy, others are compromised in various ways. but they are at risk from this. As are our younger friends 55 to 65 with compromised immune systems from various issues. I am facing reality there may be serious impact. I want to go visit my dad, but won't due to risk of inadvertantly exposing him.
