I was 18 also. After an R1 Beeman air rifle, I bought a semi-auto 30-06 Remington Four and scoped it with a Redfield Illuminator Widefield 3x9 with Accu-Trac. Still own it.

1991 I bought a stainless Colt Series 80 Enhanced Commander at So Cal Gun in San Diego. Sales gun talked me out of the Browning HP I was looking at (and eventually bought later).
Still have it. Tuned up and hard chromed by Virgil Tripp many moons ago. Still going strong, but I really need to think about replacing the tritium dots one of these days...

I bought a Remington A3-03 at a yard sale in the Poconos for $15 when I was 13.
First gun shop purchase when I was 18 was a Chinese SKS for $150
First handgun purchase was a S&W 410 three days before my 21st birthday (PA had a 3 day wait back then) and then picked it up on my birthday. Traded the A3 for the pistol. Got $150 for it with t cracked stock. I wish I kept it!
Do you still have it?
I was mostly reading over on TOS, spikes had a good rep over there and offered forum members like 10 or so % off. Had mothi.g against colts but at the time a 6920 was 1350 locally. I got mine for 950 with the new at the time BAR rail when they were made by Seekins I believe.
I didnt even like ARs when I first started getting into shooting. Thought the M4 profile looked goofy. Was not till seeing the M&P15T that had the troy rail that was a little longer that I started thinking they were cool. Of course this was all without shooting one as I mostly rented pistols MP5s and UMPs at the local indoor range.

Winchester Mdl 69A bolt action 22 . Bought it when I was 12 or 13 for my Scouts Marksmanship merit badge . Walked into the hardware store with my Dad , pointed to what I wanted , paid the man and walked out with the rifle ..... still have that rifle today and one of my Grandsons will get it .I still shoot it and it`s a tack driver .
I do have it. HBAR 16 inch with FSB. I fed it tula and wolf for probably 2k rounds. Haven't shot it in almost two years. It currently has a carry handle. Only broke a buffer retaining pin so far come to think. There was other stuff that left a lot to be desired, but honestly, it's not that bad. I just raised my standards.
Browning Buckmark Lite URX 5.5”
I love that pistol. Hadn’t shot a rifle in a very long time, and only friends’ pistols a couple times. Walked into Cabela’s, asked for a pistol to learn with, and bought what the sales guy pointed at first. It’s mostly stashed away for as the kids get older, but it has been perfect to put a grin on new shooters’ faces, and I just picked up a TacSol threaded barrel...
Springfield Armory M1A Scout Squad. Followed about five, six months later by a Kimber Desert Warrior.
6.5" barreled Ruger New Model Blackhawk .357. Used, came with a holster. Loved it but let it get away.
