Can you post a picture?
For anyone that has handled Larue products before, the quality difference between the replica and the real thing is readily apparent.
I did not know the LMT BUIS was made by LaRue. Does LaRue Tactical make any other parts for LMT?
Oh. Well, I am in the market for a dedicated rear iron sight (not a backup). The LMT appears to be a solid and full function sight. Are there others to consider? The LaRue model has no elevation, so that would be a poor choice, no?
No Palma stuff, but 300M capability seems desirable to me. Is elevation adjustment failure prone or otherwise problematic?
In that case is the LaRue LT-103 the preferred choice? Is it, by nature, more durable than the Troy folding rear? Are both so tough it doesn't matter?
I could not find the Daniel Defense product on their site.
The DD A1 is a new product that was just shown at Shot. This would be my first choice based on the value of it.
I personally think it is smarter to buy a flip up sight and just leave it up than to buy fixed rear. Reason is that if you ever buy an ACOG or scope, you are SOL with a fixed rear.

er I can't say that it came from a factory dealer. as you see sir. I had somebody buy it for me there in the U.S. and ship it to me here. although I ask him to buy it from BRAVOCOMPANYUSA.COM he could probably just have bought it somewhere else. there was a comparison of LMT BUIS here before I coudn't find it.
I could take a picture but the lighting could just mess it up. it did match the color of my DD A4 upper. which is a cerro forge. with no Airsoft LMT. There's no way I can compare it to.
most of the people here use airsoft parts for BUIS. I don't. most people don't even zero thier buis when they have glass. why? decorations I guess. I do zero them since I shoot Irons before.
The under side of the LMT has a portion hollowed out. I assume is the newer one.
The newer LMT BUIS are indeed hollowed out.
I've never seen or heard of fake LMT BUIS's. Hope that makes you feel better.:)
Forgive me, I played airsoft a few years ago before I grew up. Don't any more, but the airsoft site, WGCSHOP.com has a FEW LMT replicas. A few are discontinued.

Not discontinued,

King Arms (cost more than the actual LMT sight at $130) discontinued
I'm sure there's more. But those are the ones that say LMT. Mine are on the way from RainierArms, so I don't have any need to worry.
ETA: If they have it for real AR's, they have it for airsoft..

Here is the easiest way to tell.
None of the replicas have the locking nut captured by the screw. Im not sure what the technical term for this is but all of the replica nuts will thread off.
My LMT rears cannot have the nut threaded off entirely.
sir magz. i think I get what you're getting... the locking thumb screw doesn't screw out.
does the airsoft model screw out? it's not really rocket science to make it not screw off. i looked into the hole of the thumb screw. they somehow just "hammered" the screw into an x. expanding the screw therefore holding the thumb screw in place. forgot the right term for that. same thing we do with the bolt carrier screws and end plate castle nut joint.
anybody else wana try? I know I paid LMT price. I just hope didnt' get scammed.
Hmm, I never noticed the thumb screw was staked on. I guess I never tried to remove it. I was going to replace it with a lower profile nut but I ended up selling it to my brother. I liked using it though, I feel like I shot pretty well with it.
staked on! yep that's the word. I had it in my tongue..
I didn't really study it very well. but I could see a cross inside the thumb screw hole. I just assumed that it was staked on with an x
yes... the thumb screw really is big. I hope I don't hit it racking the charging handle.
so anybody else have ideas if I can tell it's the real thing? what about the weight?
You have the real thing if that nut is staked on there.
Like i said, none of the replicas have the nuts staked on.
Could you get us a picture please?
I'm not digging that LMT went away from the Forged BUIS to the Cast thing. I could be way off base, and am willing to be wrong. But I'd rather have the original forged unit.
I'd rather cut down a Colt or BCM carry handle.
I know, their PTS line. But the point still stands.
Im sorry but what exactly is your point?
Not everything made for real AR's is made for Airsoft. At the same time, buying from reputable American dealers will leave no doubt in your mind that you are receiving a genuine LMT or for that matter, American manufactured part.
Buy right or buy twice. Dont spend your money on questionable materials because the deal is "good". Ever heard the saying "its too good to be true". The fact of the matter is that it usually is.
Post a picture and im sure we can help you further.
I was saying they were right, some of the airsoft equipment is stamped with LMT logos. Some is stamped with Noveske, Magpul, etc. That's exactly why I don't buy any questionable stuff or 'good deals'. Buying straight from LMT, Noveske, Brownells, Rainier Arms, etc. is what I've been doing.
If you somehow misread my post as saying, buy the shit airsoft stuff and save a buck, that's not what I was saying. I was saying quite the opposite, be careful about the "deals" you get online.
well... I live in the Philippines. Just because I want to shoot an AR I don't think I need to Migrate to America.
Point is not a lot of American Companies ship to the Philippines. So I have to go through middlemen.
yes I would rather have forged rather than cast. but it's not the ponit. unless they're still selling forged and I got cast.
If LMT allows shipping direct to the Philippines. yes id buy from them in a heartbeat. but they don't so I end up being doubtful.
I'll try to take a picture this lunch.
I have not seen any of the "fakes" stamped LMT....but the ones I've seen at gun shows where about 1/4" shorter and unmarked.
I have sold a few of my LMT BUIS off rifles and put on Troys.
Troy BUIS come marked Troy, M&P, and Noveske.....Yikes!!!!!
as the picture shows. there really is an airsoft LMT. in fact when I was in the market for a rear sight. somebody did offer me an LMT airsoft. but I never really checked it out. it was waay cheap. and the seller told me it was airsoft.
I'd love to see the airsoft guys copy Troys BUIS. Or has it already been done...
There are so many airsoft knock-off's it's not funny. Just look at them all.

Troys fit and finish is second to none though. And the feel is damn tight! You know it's a quality piece when you see it. Even the screws are top notch.
