that's right, it was the "I bought an AR, now what" post. I'll start with an H buffer and go from there.
Part 2 of my article 'What now?' will have the explanation of different buffers and options. If your AR came with a CAR buffer I'd use it with .223 Rem SAAMI pressure ammo until it gives you problems.
If you're shooting a 100% diet of 5.56mm NATO pressure ammo then I'd suggest going to an H at a minimum or even an H2 depending on the particular gun and gas port size.
What about LMT?
It is my understanding they have a .063 gas port but also use a carbine buffer. What is the opinion on the balance of this set up?
How about a BCM 16" middy on an LMT lower?
Before getting the LMT, I had my BCM on a Bushmaster lower in which I put an H buffer, and it was running well with both 5.56 and PCM .223. The LMT has a carbine buffer ... would I be better running the H buffer in it too?
