I bought an ADM Recon mount for a Mark 4 MRT, I'm not 100% sold on them. For now, I'll be sticking with LaRue mounts for my Aimpoints. If it isn't broke, no need to fix it...

I think the adm mounts are as good or better than larue, people just buy larue for the name. My adm doesnt have exposed springs.

A good mount needs to be rock solid not only on the weapon but off it as well. For instance, say you keep an aimpoint in your ruck, to switch out with your other scope it needed. Thus, the mount needs to be take the abuse of being carried and possibly getting snagged on other kit. What worries me about the ADM is the two partially exposed springs. If one or both of the springs are missing, how well does the mount work?

I have been trying this on my ADM mount, I took one of the spring out and secured my ADM mount onto my AK74clone...it has been working well so far.

I also tried to use a dental pick to try to pry out the spring while the mount is off the rail, as long as you keep the lever closed, you have no problem with the springs popping out

Maybe some people buy it for the name, but I buy them because:

1) I know they work (I have six currently) and they have been proven to work in difficult environments.
2) Larue has excellent customer service. I hear that ADM does, but I know Larue does first hand.
3) If you are buying a Larue mount with your optic from Larue, the price is hard to beat as part of a combo deal.

The springs have ZERO to do with the mounts ability to repeat or retain zero.

The upcoming military mount requirements are probably worth reading for some people. The results will be even more interesting when the testing is done and over.

Thanks for the input. My two mounts (same model) have different adjustment screws. I think one is the early version and the other the new one. Is there an upgrade policy with ADM for the old screw?

do you have a link for this info? i tried a couple searches but came up empty.

btw, there seems to be two main brands here to look at and each have their merits. I appreciate the input, but don't want this turning into something else.

I have no experience with mounts from either place, but i do have experience with other larue products, and i am familiar with their CSR's, and I agree that their responses and assistance have been excellent. I count CSR support pretty high, as it's an indicator of how well a business pays attention to the little details. Right along with that, if a places like Bravo and G&R carries ADM, you have to trust that Paul and Grant are pretty sure of the ADM products.

at least i two excellent products to pick from. more then i had, when i started this thread.
