But, you need to realize that shooting 5.56 ammo in a .223 isn't such a great idea and having true 5.56 chamber will provide more utility.
I wasn't correcting your spelling, I was just spelling the word correctly for my own piece of mind.

Yes I do realize 5.56 in a .223 barrel is not a good idea. I'll check to make certain but if I remember correctly this is a 5.56 barrel. I bought this barrel in 92 or 93 and I think it was marked 5.56, its 14"s and has a 1' diameter behind the gas block and is .750 to the muzzle. And the length is not an issue, the AK74 muzzle brake I used is welded on to make it legal length. I even turned the muzzle brake down on a lathe to match the barrel diameter so future work was not an issue.
Later tonight I'll have a chance to look and see exactly what the barrel is marked with and I'll post that then.
Unfortunately, barrel markings don't always mean much:

Well I pulled the barrel out and looked it over good! I even got my reading glasses out. It has no markings what so ever on it. So any guesses on who made 14" heavy barrels with no markings back in 92? All I can say is it does pass the go no-go gauge tests with a 5.56 gauge set (well it did when I first assembled it.) I'm not going to be concerned over that, it has shot too well over the years.
I checked it against the Bushmaster and it did the same thing. I'll just trim a couple thousands off and it will be fine I'm sure.
BTW I did some more poking around this website. I was told about it from a guy that has lurked here a few times but he said I'd love the site. I will say two things, found lots of good information but second is that this site is geared toward building a business weapon and not a recreational rifle. I don't think my friend realized that.
Thats for the help you've given!
