I was just wanting some input and opinions (positive and negative). I use a hogue AR15 pistol grip and I am satisfied. It's really comfortable and easy on the hand. Thanks...

I use the same as you. Me and my wife like the feel of it over the Toys-R-Us feel of the OEM plastic ones.
I know nothing, but I really REALLY like the MagPul MIAD, with the fattest insert.
I'm used to wooden stocks (M14, M1 Carbine) and high-capacity pistols, and I like a fatter grip. I like a grip fat enough that my fingers don't quite reach all the way around to meet the butt of my thumb.
Honestly, the smaller (USGI-sized) grips feel like they were designed for little kids or women.
I have small hands (I wear medium gloves), and the reach from the web of my thumb to the trigger was way too short with the A2 grip. The fat insert with the MIAD adds about a half-inch of "finger pull."
That's just my 2¢. I think everybody here will tell you that this is a subjective thing, much more a matter of personal preference than any objective "good, better, best" measurement.
Bimmer
Thanks. Each time I purchased an AR, the OEM was removed immediately and replaced with the Hogue. I've tried others, such as the Tangodown, and Ergo grip, and the new CAA with removeable backstraps, but I still prefer the Hogue.
I liked the Tango Down, but have come to like the Magpul MOE. My one beef is that I think it should come with an integral gapper. I don't like having to add the rubber one or spring for the ridiculously priced Magpul one that also has sharp edges.
FWIW, I can't stand the Hogue, or anything else with any kind of finger grooves, on any gun.
Yeh. This issue is very subjective. I can understand the finger groove preference thing, Rob. I guess that's why I also like the 3rd gen Glocks. Haven't tried the Miad yet, though. The CAA is somewhat of a knock-off. Thanks for the input. Does anyone have any failures to report, of any kind? Such as breakages, etc...?
TD and standard A2 for me
I like the MIAD and the old Lonestar Ordnance trapdoor grip.
i am also a big fan of the magpul MIAD. (i like it with the biggest backstrap insert and no fingergroove on the frontstrap. i generally like fat grips and dislike fingergrooves.)
the MIAD also seems to position my trigger finger well and facilitates a nice, smooth trigger press.
and you can store an extra set of batteries for your optic inside of it.
A2.
But I have one MIAD which I like.... there's just no need to change out my 4 other A2 grips.
I have the CAA G27 and love it. It is a very strong built piece and looks awsome too. I had the HOUGE but didnt like it.
Thanks. The CAA I handled felt pretty nice...It seems alot of you guys don't like finger grooves...By A2, are you guys referring to the OEM grip that comes with a typical AR?
yes A2 = current OEM, milspec
A1 = no finger bump, old milspec
btw i like Tango Down and MIAD in "small" config.....smallest backstrap, smooth forestrap.
My LMT lower came with a ergo grip so I saw no reason to replace it with a miad, but my other lower has a miad on it. I like both of them and had the lower not showed up with an ergo I would have bought another miad.
I have really come to like the Tango down grip. Very comfortable for my use. I haven't tried the MIAD yet but looks nice but it appears to be wide and slick.
TD, especially with gloves
If you have larger hands like I do, You may want to try a MIAD with the "large" backstrap. Even the MOE grip feels fine to me. The A2, Tango Down, and the Ergo Grips just don't fill my hand enough to be comfortable. My $.02
The one that came on my LMT MRP CQB Piston...............Ergo!!!!
No reason to change as I really like it......that said, I haven't tried any other grips on ARs except my neighbors standard S&W M&P.
I have small/medium hands. I use the medium backstrap on my M&P 40. might give the MIAD a run. It's been a while since I tried the TD...Sizewise, how does it compare??
I use mostly Magpul MOE grips.
MOE grips all the way. It just makes sense.
I REALLY like the nice, somewhat spongy feel of Ergo grips. I have one on my POF, but my 'new' M&P15T came with the full, enhanced, Magpul Miad, which I find so far to be... underwhelming. :(
I'd heard a lot ABOUT them, but I'm not really impressed - they are pretty unyielding, and while they fit my hand (not too big), it's not a grip I can really embrace at this point. Good excuse for RANGE TIME, I think... ;)
Hogue
I have tried to like the Tango Down grip, but keep going back to the MIAD. I have it setup exactly like a MOE, but RA didn't have black MOEs when I wanted one, so I got the MIAD instead.
Well, seeming as I bought a BG-16 from TangoDown off of their website on 12/22/2008 and was told three weeks ago that it was being shipped "next week", I'd almost say I'd trust those ****tards at CAA to complete my build. Looks like Magpul is getting the funds.
Oh well, it's a shame too, TD has the best ergos IMO.........Screw 'em.
PS - Yeah, yeah....I bought from their site and should have known that they're busy filling their vendors orders first. No excuse, their front desk maid shouldn't have lied to me.
MIAD and only MIAD for me and these big paws
TD, planning to through some grip tape on it as soon as I figure out where I put the grip tape.
ergo on my LMT. Ergo on the 6.8SBR build I'm working on. Ergo because they're ambi, and do exactly what I want it to.....feel comfortable, hold cr123s if necessary, and feel the same on each AR platform I build.
Hmmm.....I see that Hogue has a 'storage kit'...(a plug for the bottom of the AR15 grip) Anyone have any experience with this?? The Miad seems to have alot of fans here...
used to love the hogue ambi, but now that i got my first magpul moe awhile back, i think they willl be the ones i stick with.
The standard one with about a 1/2 roll of athletic tape built up to create a palm swell. I use a gapper too only b/c I finally decided I was worth the $1.95 instead of a cut foam ear plug.
Yeah.... I know, I am white trash.
Hogue
I switched out the Hogue which came on my first rifle for a TangoDown and never looked back. I recently picked up a MOE grip to try out and am just waiting to install it.
Miad with smallest backstrap and smooth front strap...and a Gapper.
Ergo on mine
MOE Grip for me. Love it. :)
MIAD's with the medium backstrap and a smooth front. For my SBR I want to try a MOE, but I need to find one in OD.
My first Colt I put the Hogue on it. It was the middle of the summer and mosquito season and I was called out for a barricaded subject. After showering in OFF my Hogue became very sticky. After the 8 hours standoff it was ruined.
Tango Down lets my hand ride too high on the rifle for my taste but I liked the feel.
I've currently got TD's, MOE's, and Ergo's. As I have small to medium paws I prefer the TD to all, like the Ergo, and can tolerate the MOE. Unfortunately for me my preference follows the pricing of these a well.
My LMT came with the Ergo, liked it so much I got one to replace the plastic A 2 style that came on my S&W.
