the CTR is a fine stock.
What type of rifle are you running? A entry rifle/cqb setup the ctr would be good. If you have a battlerifle type setup a sopmod, acs, ubr, vltor emod stocks are good. A spr would benefit with a PRS stock or something to that effect. I have a CTR on my 8.5" psd rifle and it's nice. The lock feature definitely makes the stock rock solid. Best of luck on your selection!
Its pretty much a home defense rifle and maybe varmit hunting occasionly
Magpul CTR, LMT SOPMOD or Vltor EMod. I have all three and like them very much.
However, the new Magpul stock (ACS?) looks like a winner if they ever release it. Appears to be the result of a romantic encounter between a CTR and a SOPMOD.
Yeah ctr would be a good stock nice and simple and light. Drich I always like to call the ACS a illegitimate love child of the sopmod and ctr haha.
The CTR is my favorite stock. It is reasonably priced, low profile and locks up tight. If you feel like spending a little more get a SOPMOD.
Got a MOE and UBR.
Love them both. The UBR balances out my 16" middy real well like USMC03 suggested it would.
All the ones mentioned so far have had outstanding reviews overall.
The CTR is a great stock someone posted in another thread that the stock should be based upon the type of rifle and barrel length. IE CTR is light and would balance on an SBR better than a 16" model. and the E Mod / SOPMOD / UBR balance better due to their increased weight on longer barreled guns. In the end it is up to personal preference and you really cant go wrong with the CTR, EMOD, SOPMOD, or UBR they are all great stocks.
the ctr is a very fine lightweight stock.
I have handled and fired SBRs and lightweight builds with the CTR and really loved them. The CTR is an awesome stock for a carbine that is not front heavy.
For 14.5" M4s with standard hand guards or 7" "carbine length" rails I keep coming back to the SOPMOD. It just works the best with this configuration. I think the ACS will probably be very similar.
For 16" middys or longer, or with guns with long rails, the UBR or E-Mod is best.
For my purposes / rifles, I like the Vltor or the CTR. Sopmod is a nice comfy rest, but is a bit too bulky for what I want. IMO, the Vltor kinda splits the Sopmod and the CTR when it comes to cheek weld / rest. Again, it is personal preference.
