Who wants an AR with a .223 chamber
It could be, I really just stopped by the store on the way to the car dealership. I figured that I might as well pick up a few hundred PMC rounds.
I wasn't expecting to see any ARs while there.
If someone is interested and they don't feel like calling the store, I can do a detailed inspection on Thursday while the car gets worked on.
gander is a fudd store- they have no idea there's a difference between 556 and 223... i've gotten in that argument almost every time i've gone into sportsman's warehouse.. or really anywhere, for that matter.
I was at the Gander Mountain on the south side of Pittsburgh Thursday - NO AR's, and while they had a nominal amount of OVERpriced  centerfire ammo, .22LR was almost gone!
FIRST time I'd seen THAT around here, w/regards to .22's!
holy shit, privates.... M4tographer is on to something. we should be calling our "assault rifles" "defense rifles."
Defense rifle is not too shabby. But I refer to my weapons as Roscoe. "It's all fun and games until Roscoe comes out!" haha
I think the "Defense Rifle" name is fantastic. After all in the first AWB they picked these weapons out from a book because they looked "ominous". At least Defense Rifle speaks to an actual use of the rifle.
I also agree that Gander and its Competitor here in Iowa Scheels don't know the difference between 5.56 mm and .223 cal. I have observed a few DPMS for sale in Scheels marked as 5.56 only to find out after looking they were chambered for .223 cal. I gave up trying to explain to the sales rep the difference.
The other problem is the Bushmaster is overpriced at least here. When I was in Iraq the Police Dept I work for bought Bushmasters for the whole dept. These were HBAR's and not the M4 config. They paid $800 a piece Dept price. I'm not a fan of Bushmaster, but I'm not complaining at least they bought everyone in the dept a rifle which we carry in the front with a shotgun.
The M@P price doesn't look to bad.
Around here you can find bushmaster's civ price for around $850 to $1000 depending on the config.
