I'm thinking my Glock 17. I have 2 factory issued 17 round mags with +2 plates and I have 2 OEM Glock 17 round mags I purchased later, and I have 2 33 round Glock 18 mags. I guess I would grab the glock, stuff the loaded mags in my bag with an extra box of 50 rounds. I doubt the extra ammo box is required, but it's small and not too heavy.
I would be also carrying my handy-dandy CRKT M16-14ZSF and my Gerber as well as my Coleman tacticle LED light and a couple spare sets of AAA batteries.
We have 4 of the Coleman LED lights from Wally-World, they are great for very cheap and have the flesh tearing tacticle bezel.... for under $20.
I also stock chemicle light sticks, some would be coming in my bag.
I have a couple AR's, but I would not want to travel 24 hours a day/night with 7-8 lbs hanging from my neck, and I bet it would invite confrontations that would otherwise be easily bypassed. And honestly, in that situation.... I would never have but one firearm. So in your hypothetical situation.... I do not exist. To be in a panick and to be grabbing supplies to bug-out the family in a dangerous situation, why open the safe and take one? If the situation allws you access to your dwelling to get 1 firearm.... grab 2 or grab 3. Grab a second bag and toss in water for the kids and you, toss in some sort of food/candy.
It is an interesting question, but I can not think of a scenario that would allow me access to my dwelling to get my hands on 1 firearm without providing me access to all of them. I can carry 3 firearms and you would never suspect I had 1. I can carry 1 and have 4 or 5 total on me and yet you only see 1.
My wife would most likely have her pistol, and my son would most likely grab his pistol... and he would be wanting to take his Rugar 10/22 as well.
We would fare well against average thieves and the like, but we would be found wanton if faced with any trained fighters. The whole concept of actually bugging out the family is horrific, and honestly.... I can't imagine in our country ever being faced with something like this... short of it being some unexpected natural diesaster. In the case of a natural diesaster I imagine most Americans will be sticking together to help each other.
Call me sheltered or whatever you wish, but I do not honestly expect to ever see foreign soldiers on my countries land, and I honestly do not ever expect to see my military attacking my countrymen. So whatever happens, I do expect that as a community we will prevail and overcome.... it is what we do best. We are all Americans. We win.
