I have Zero expereince with Colt sear block items, but it looks like it may be the case. I would definitely do the extra rotation of the LRE on the Stag, but that's just me.
These are the acceptable minimum and maximum buffer spring lengths for the rifle and the carbine.
Rifle- 11 3/4 - 13 1/2 inches.
Carbine- 10 1/16- 11 1/4 inches.
The Stag does appear to need another rotation of the receiver extension, try it and make sure that the top of the receiver extension doesn't stick out of the receiver. As long as it doesn't and doesn't keep the buffer retainer from moving freely you're good. If it doesn't stick past the receiver but does keep the buffer retainer from moving you may need to notch it like the other one you have.
Also there are some gunsmiths who can remove the hardened Colt block to allow the use of M16 carriers.
I've seen some lowers that Sam Hatfield did this on and they came out great.
Thanks everyone. 10-4 on the Stag extension, I'll try to crank it in another rotation.
I cut off my sear block flush with the lower using a cheap Wallmart dremel. Now I can run a M16 bolt.
Just adding an update - Tried to get another rotation for the LRE on the Stag lower, no go. About 10 degrees short of being aligned vertically and could go no more...
Just to add additional info, I have an AR-15 BCG that came with my Saber Defense Middy upper, mounted on a colt a2 sporter lower with the same sear block. It works well. I always wondered if a FA BCG would work with the sear block. I guess I wasn't curious enough to swap and see. Thanks for the info. I'll get out the dremal and get to work!
