I like them just fine - one older QRP with an ML2 and an M4S mount with the spacer. They suit my needs well... I didn't feel an immediate need to purchase a new $110 mount when it includes one. Others will have different opinions; YMMV.

The QRP mount will serve you fine. I had the opportunity to T&E various Aimpoint sights back in the spring. Several of them had the QRPs for mounts. They worked good. I believe the key to having them return to zero after removal is a consistent routine for replacing them such as pulling the sight forward in the Picatinny rail and tightening it until it clicks once. I'm sure there are others on here that have far more experience with them than me and may have more insight.
I'm happy with mine as well...
I just picked up this C3 the other day. Came with QRP and standard mount, flip covers, box...$300.
I was pleasantly surprised that it gives me lower 1/3rd witness with the CASV.

Lots of bad guys dispatched with the QRP. it will serve you well.
I would call it lower 1/3.
Unsure if this mod is readily possible.
True if your optic simply has dead batteries. But what if it becomes damaged by some type of hit - how are you going to see your BUIS through a busted up optic? Just something to think about.
Just a personal anecdote - I had been on a call out during the winter and have had snow fall from tree branches and fill my optic with snow. Even with anti fog on the lenses it made the optic all but useless for several minutes. I took the optic off and stuck it in my coat pocket. ---Murphy is with me everywhere!-- I'm sure that some time or another there will be just the right stick or hard object that will do one of my optics in someday.
I'm not sure what the intent is for your rifle Dunderway, but it's something you might want to consider before semi permanently (or at least unable to immediately remove) your optic from your rifle.
Stay safe and train hard!
I just got it mounted today and am very pleased with the overall package. I appreciate everyones advice, and I believe that I got a really amazing deal on a great optic and mount ($395.99 for the whole M68 system).
ETA: Thanks Kater and Henny for the QD advice. It makes sense, and I belive I will keep that feature in case Murphy strikes.
Dunderway, I'm sure your optic and mount will serve you well! Any time anyone can get some insight from my misfortunes and screw ups, it makes me feel I'm using Murphy's Law for someones advantage. As long as they are not shooting at me, I'm ok with that.
