Grant, what about an LMT enhanced carrier in this case?

If you look a little bit deeper you'll find this .70" thick vented but pad:

Of course I believe the experts are right in that practicing proper technique will help more than anything else. ;)
Maybe switch to a low mass carrier. JP Enterprises makes some good ones
Nice try.
If you read my earlier post , you might see , "I agree 100% that the real fix will be mostly technique."
The thickness thing is all about having enough material to shape the bottom rear of the butt. The .55 pad should have plenty of material , the vented pad would a total waste....
I'm confused, please let me know where I'm going wrong here.
What is felt recoil? Is it the impulsive force from the detonation of the cartridge and the projectile leaving the barrel (like a bolt action rifle), or is it when the bolt carrier group compresses the action spring and collides with the rear of the receiver extension?
I thought the significant mechanism of "felt recoil" in the AR was the bolt carrier group hitting the rear of the receiver extension.
I also thought that is why a heavier carrier would be beneficial as it would slow down the BCG.
Therefore I thought that the enhanced carrier, which bleeds off more gas, would further reduced the carrier groups velocity thus reducing felt recoil and produce a softer shooting carbine.
Where did I go in this thought process?
couldn't he change the compensator to something like the surefire 556?
i have three guns and the one i got recently from nickdrak has the surefire on it and the guns literally has a little bump. Freaks me out it kicks so little.
I doubt your wife weighs less then this little girl shooting it last weeked, she shot around 30 rounds. No bruise no complaints.
I don't know what your budget or desire is, but outside of better technique, wouldn't a standard 3-gun rifle with an 18inch barrel, Cooley comp, rifle length gas adjustable gas system and a rifle stock with LMOS (Carrier and buffer) be the smoothest shooting? I would think it wouldn't be that hard to try one out.
Some people just bruise easy, but maybe you can take the pain out of it.
