the mount shown in the pics that smglee posted above is an insight prototype mount. insight is still deciding on what they're going to be offering as far as mounts go. whether to have them made in-house (expensive), contract someone else, or leave it up to the end user, since the MRDS uses the same mount as the docter and fast fire. the only two mounts i'm aware of that put it at the right height on an M4 are the larue irondot mount, and the jpoint (i have never used that one) with docter adapter. i wish larue came out with a slimmed down mount/base without their shroud/protector or flip up rear sight.
the insight mount shown above is too low to co-witness properly. i can see the front sight post, but it's at the top of the window. it needs to be raised 0.3" IMHO. it's also a bit low for my natural cheek weld.
i had a docter mounted on another gun, so i swapped out that setup with the insight mount, and it's now at the right height and co-witnesses. i put the docter on the insight mount for a lower profile application. the current setup is shown below - it's a docter weaver mount on top an ARMS #17DR (this one is actually tight on my receiver) which i've had since 2004.
