H1 Buffer fabrication
I do not have easy access to gun parts. what I have is a C buffer on a 14.5in barrel. I run a Full auto bolt. I can't get to an H buffer.
so I decided to build one.
I got a 1 piece stainless bar. length is exactly the same stack as 3 steel buffers with rubber in between. I drilled a hole in it's center from end to end. Hole diameter is 10.5mm got a 12mm tap and threaded the inside of the stainless bar. Lastly I filled it up with Lead. The thread will hold the lead in place with all the banging.
I end up with a 1 piece weight of the same overall length as the 3 steel weights. But the weight is that of an H1 weight buffer. so will this work as an H1 buffer?
It's hard to order just the buffer..

I have no idea whether or not that would work - it sounds to me if it's the correct weight, it's the correct weight... However, this is where I get my H-buffers when I need one:

yeah. Id like to have one too... but get them to ship to the philippines. even if they did... the shipping alone would be too much.
if this works. I'll probably use this for the meantime until I can get a real H or H2 buffer.

It should slow the bolt down because of the extra weight. The only thing I can think of since it is now one piece it would lose the dampening effect of the multi section with the rubber spacers in between the weights. If my memories are right the multi sections with the rubber spacers main function was in Full Auto use to help stop bolt bounce. It could be that the one piece Could and I say Could because I am just speculating could induce bolt bounce.
Are you going to place an order to the US anytime soon I would order an H-3 buffer then you could change out the weights in the H-3 with the spacers in the carbine buffer and make your self a H-1 or H-2 buffer .

whoa. I was afraid of the bolt bounce issue. I do have a full auto. although I don't shoot full auto a lot ... bolt bounce could be a problem.
I would love to buy an h3 unfortunately.. the shipping is really very prohibitive. shipping something like that half way around the world. Well if somebody volunteers. :D

Sorry, didn't realize you were in the Philippines.

You could just replace one of the steel spacers with a similar one made out of lead that way you could keep the damping effect of the rubber spacers. It would not weight exactly what a H-1 would but the exact weight is not the big deal there is nothing special in that exact weight.

lead is maleable and the banging could deform it or increase it's diameter. no can do.
lead is only marginally heavier than steel. by replacing the core of the 3 steel weights. I only ended up with the total equivalent of the h1. And I had to make it one piece. giving me more metal material in the place of the rubber spacers.
I hope somebody knows something about using a 1 piece weight and causing bolt bounce.

i shoot a car buffer right now....
what difference should I be feeling? or what should I look out.?
