I am another very happy ADCO customer. They do excellent work and have a very quick turn around time.
ADCO, quick turnaround, professional operation, no BS.
Another +1 for adco. Ive had them cut 4 barrels for me. Fast service and excellent craftsmanship each time.
wouldn't any competent gunsmith with a good reputation who build rifles from scratch (benchrest / custom hunting) with a lathe, milling machine, etc be able to cut / thread and crown an AR bbl??
Not trying to be a wise guy, but custom chambering / cutting and threading barrels are done by 1st class smiths daily for all types of weapons. I had my Anschutz 54 sporter cut and threaded for my tac67 while I waited from a retired gunsmith/buddy.
I guess my question would be, Is there something special about cutting an M4 profile bbl that an AR specialist is needed??
I will say the turn around time and recommendations from adco sound excellent & also know finding a trusted gunsmith locally can be quite the challenge.
You would think any good gunsmith could do it.
But after messing around with several yahoos in my area that came highly recommended on local gun boards.
I found out that ADCO will do it cheaper, better and faster.
Even with the shipping time included the entire time frame was less than half that of doing it locally.
That is certainly a plus and why I would consider adco if /when I needed the service....my assumption is that the lining was not an issue or I would have seen it somewhere on the gunsmithing forum (from the smiths I know are top notch.) I just don't think it(chrome lining) would be that brittle or we would hear of more flaking / chipping in general.
