Any thoughts for a hand stop on oval hand guards other than KAC?
Thanks in advance.
The KAC is great and worth every penny IMO.
You can get that ERGO surestop for $4.00 at many retailers. I just ordered one last night as an add on to an order for $3+change. The KAC hand stop=great quality either way you look at it.

First time ordering from them but... they were the only place I could find everything I was looking for in the same place to save on shipping. Could be a good or bad experience.
Thanks for the heads up!
Someone gave you bad intel, its not plastic.

The KAC is machined aluminum.
Machine time costs money.
Deal with it or dont...
Stick,
The rest goes without saying.
Too many people these days dont care about the entire picture. They simply look at the raw cost of the material and poo poo the creators because its "expensive".
Nevermind the fact that people have to get paid, machines have to be paid off, etc, etc etc and the list goes on.
True, and I'm as guilty of it as the next person. I don't think that most of us think about all of the steps involved in production, we tend to simply look at price and go from there.
Look at the KAC Triple Tap Brake. KAC took a lot of heat based on the price, but thankfully they brought it to market anyway. I don't think that most people can afford or need a $400+ muzzle device, but its nice to have exotic options anyway.
Guys who are into racing figured all of this out a long time ago.
With a background around cars when I was younger I can completely understand this. In guns just like cars, you have some company's with mediocre products getting a premium, and then you have some company's making EXCELLENT products and getting their premium. KAC is towards the top of my list as far as "premium" brands, there are other companies at the top of my list as well. This is just my opinion, but basically if it's too rich for someone then save for it, or buy something else. The TTB is definitely an exotic item, but a nice toy to have. Just like that racing turbo I use to run in my system wasn't necessary, and produced way more power than I ever tapped into, but it was nice to have. Why, well because I saved for it, and just flat out wanted it.
Most of us don't "need" anything more than a BCM rifle from Grant, even that would outlive us, and is way more rifle than we "need", myself included, but I like to have nice quality things so I buy what I can and like.
As has been stated, the machining processes can be expensive. Paying the person to operate, the tool heads for cutting, the software that runs most of these machines, etc. I don't think it's fair for someone to knock a product because it's too expensive for them.
Just my $0.02
I agree with most of what's been said..... but their is a definite sense of gouging on these small do-dads that everyone MUST HAVE because C. Costa (no disrespect to the man meant or implied) used it in the best AR series of videos in recent history. The muzzle break I can see being a finely engineered expensive part, the hand stop not so much.
If you want it, pony up and pay the asking price without whining on the way. If I feel this way about a product it's a no from me, no whine included.
I would not be surprised if the profit margin on the KAC handstop price $59.95 is less than the ergo priced at $9.95. The only human hands that touched the Ergo were to install the cheap chines made screws. The KAC hand stop is not only a handstop but is also a QD sling attachment point Daniel Defense charges $40.00 for there rail QD sling attachment and it is just an attachment point thats it.
I have been shooting my SBR with the Ergo and it works for my use, which is nothing serious. If I could make a couple changes to it, it would be the size / curve, and when locked it still has play. Unfortunately, since its soft plastic, you cant make it really tight. tight like a tiger.
and it looks like the concept was stolen from a western saddle.
It also looks like a great thing to hang your coat on.

One thing to remember is that KAC's products are made to withstand combat. You could bring their stuff over to Iraq/Afghanistan and it would come back banged up and functional. They make serious products for serious people. They are the Snap On of firearms.
That other piece would end up in the trash broken.
You could also buy ten for the price of one KAC hand stop. :)
I think the real world use thing is going a bit far. In the real world you need a functioning rifle. Without all the crap added on it's still a functioing rifle.
