Need to pick up a LPK to complete a lower. Colt kits from SAW are $200.00, and I dont have much confidence in DPMS.
Daniel Defence has kits, but I havent seen anything about them online. Has anyone tried them? Any good?
Thanks

Here's a recent thread on them:

I've been thinking about ordering a DD LPK. Guess I'll find out. I usually use the CMT/Stag LPKs.
I used a DD LPK last night on a Noveske lower and the parts fit perfectly. Especailly nice finish on the bolt release and pivots pins (no seams, marks, burrs, etc..) I was planning on installing a Geiselle SSA but now decided not to as the DD trigger is pretty nice.. just an ever so slight creep, but a nice clean break at 5-6lbs. Comes with a Magpul MOE black trigger guard which I thought was a good thing... but the front hex screw is a PITA to put in. Decided to throw the triggerguard away and put on a Magpul enhanced.
Overall really happy with the DD LPK. I will use them from now on (or at least until something better comes along)
I had a hard time with the moe trigger guard going on my noveske blem lower too. As it sits right now it is still about an 1/8th of an inch from being flush with the guard. I used the correct size allen wrench and once it got stiff either the wrench or the screw stripped enough to not allow it to go all the way in. I may replace it down the road but it works not and is only a cosmetic thing.
If the LPK is for a rifle I may stake my life on, I'm going with SAW. What's an extra $100-$125 in that context?
How many co's buy up Colt's seconds? Many.
I just got one and I have to say its not what I expected from a company like DD. I also got a kit from G&R Tactical and it is what I will buy from now on. Not sure who makes them but the engagement surfaces are crisp and smooth, very good quality stuff and I would recomend them.
I agree. I built a stripped Stag lower with a DD kit. Everything installed ok and checked ok; but the trigger was gritty, heavy, and inconsisent. The engagement surface on the trigger looked like it had been ground with a 60 grit wheel. From what I had read about DD, I was expecting better.
I paid $65 at Palmetto State Armory and it came with the Magpul Aluminum trigger guard, but now I wish I had bought from G&R. That's what I get for throwing an extra on an order to get free shipping, I should have bought more mags. I assume it will work OK, I'll find out when I get my BCM upper, but thinking about the $17 differential between DD and G&R makes me feel dumb at this particular moment. I don't mind a 6-7 pound trigger, but smooth is easily worth $17.
ETA: My DD kit came with a notched hammer. If you look close you can see it in the pictures on most of the vendor websites that sell them, so I assume they all are notched.
I also agree that the DD kits may be overrated. They fit fine but the trigger was very gritty. The trigger is definitely grittier, but lighter, than a RRA kit trigger. Also, I don't know if these parts are mostly forged or not but there were a lot bubble pockets on the flat surfaces of the trigger group. The RRA LPK didn't really have any noticeable pockets and overall seems much higher quality because of that. Otherwise it installs fine but next time I'll be going back to an RRA kit for the same price.
The holes in the triggerguards for the set screws are too damn small. Same goes for the MIAD fronstrap with triggerguard.
I drill them a little bit larger, and it gets a lot easier to install. Somehow I was able to install two without drilling, but the other two just weren't having it.
Same here with the DD LPK. Too much creep in the trigger. Got one from G&R and was totally satisfied.
I don't know if they are the same parts as are sold in the kits, but the parts that came in my DDM4 appear to be top notch. The trigger is quite crisp, and the hammer is not notched.
My only complaint is that for some reason the safety won't fall out when I take the grip off. I suppose tolerances require that you remove the trigger first.
Regarding the Magpul enhanced trigger guard. Try installing the end with the allen screw first and then the end with the roll pin.
It would be great to order everything from G&R or BCM but availability seems to limit choices these days.
I have DD lpk's in two different lowers. The older kit, with about 1500 rounds on it, has a notched hammer and short selector. The newer kit, with about 800 rounds on it, has an un-notched hammer and a longer selector. DD told me the difference is a simple design change.
I have no complaints about the trigger from either kit. Granted, I've never used a high-end trigger but the DD trigger doesn't leave me wanting more or wondering "is there anything better?"
They are nice but I can never find them for sale...
RRA LPK's may not be the best, but they appear to be decent quality and function well. The bolt catch on the RRA LPK's don't have the cast line running down the middle, like some of the cheaper (DPMS) LPK's. The pins and detents all seem to be fine and made to spec. The triggers are heavy though.
If Bravo Company sells them, they should be GTG.
Since someone dug this necropost up, allow me to make small observation.
Buy an ALG Defense trigger for 45.00. The other items like springs, detents, selector, etc... are fairly easy to locate and are for the most part are the same. When I did some internet research I was able to piece together an LPK like this for just around 70.00. This gives you a solid quality trigger, disconnector, etc.. as well as trigger pull that is better than USGI.
I did something similar using PSA's "Classic LPK w/o Fire Control Group," which is slightly less than $40, the only difference being that I used the ACT trigger. PSA also has other LPK's that do not include the fire control group, but include some Magpul upgrades, etc.
I have Daniel defense kits in 2 of mine. No problems. Nothing special in terms of the fire control parts, standard feeling mil-spec trigger. All the pins and springs were high quality and fit well though.
