Hey comp1911,
I just wanted to tell you how nice your tooling is. I set screwed, dimpled, and taper pinned a Vltor block on my new BCM CHF 16" Middy. Sweet! It's always a pleasure to use the right tool for the job.

As was already stated, the cut down pinned FSB is the best available option. Secondly would be to have a lo-profile gasblock pinned in place by a smith such as ADCO.
As far as Low-profile gasblocks go, I prefer the LaRue gasblock. I have used Troy, Vltor, PRI, and MI gasblocks on builds in the past. From my experience LaRue has the most solid mounting set-screws. I feel fully confident running a LaRue gasblock with red loc-tite on the set-screws under/protected by a free float handguard. I wouldnt consider any other brand unless it was pinned in place.
