Ensure you’re working on a good solid surface. A flimsy table top or work bench will only absorb the energy from your hammer instead of transferring it to the pins. If you have to, work on the garage floor with the FSB supported on a block of wood.
I prefer to use a nail set to initially knock the FSB pins loose. The nail sets concave face fits the FSB pin heads perfectly, and prevents slippage which can mushroom the pin heads.
Once the pins are knocked loose, follow up the removal with a standard pin punch.
