When driving through multiple states, an overnight stay in a ban state isn't a stay at a "destination". The airline flight situation is one I will remember though as this also applies to firearms on International flights during layovers, in my case going on Safari in Africa.
Just for grins and giggles when did it become illegal for you to possess a handgun in NJ without a permit? You do need a permit to purchase a handgun but I know lots of folks that travel to NJ for matches, flying and by car. And unless my LEO friends from NJ are all wet it's a crime to use HP ammo during a crime, not use it at a match or even have it in your possession. So I suppose illegally having a firearm and having HP ammo would be a valid situation for prosecution.
