Larue Aimpoint Micro/Magnifier Mount Question

Ah, I misunderstood, I thought you were referring to trying to adjust the pitch and yaw of entire tube and ring via the mount like the EOTech version (made by A.R.M.S. I believe). It might help a little but I need to lower the entire tube straight down at least 1/8" to get my eyeball, the magnifier, the optic and the target all lined up without hunting up and down for the "sweet spot".

There is no where near the adjustment room to compensate for that.

The adjustment on the magnifier is for centering the dot in the magnifier. It will not make up for a mechanical mis-alignment. I would check and make sure you got a short magnifier mount, both by looking on the bottom and measuring the thing. Some thing isn't right. Same with the RDS mount.

Why Larue can't make these thing mechanically line up perfectly is beyond me. At this price point, it should line up even. It kind of rubs me wrong that even on the chart they don't line up. If i'm using a Larue mount on both items, why shouldn't they be centered? Not close enough, but perfect.

I think it has more to do with when they made the Micro series RDS mounts their primary concern was getting the proper lower 1/3 co-witness. Then the magnifier's got second priority. I'm guessing the H-1/T-1 mounts sit slightly lower than the M1/M2/M3 so they compromised in a way that the magnifier would work well with both sights but not quite perfect with the Micro series RDS.

Either way mine fits none of those explanations.

LaRue told me NOT to get the LT-660HK unles I was running the HK-416 or another similar piston gun as the co-witness with my irons would be wrong and the 3xMag would not line up right. I would replace the mount! Did you get it new...if so they will take it back within 30 days and maybe even after if you explain your dilemma! Good luck! Great looking gear!

I can understand the co-witness issue but how could piston/HK vs. DGI/AR system effect the magnifier lining up? A flat top rail is a flat top rail. Also on their chart they are using troy BIUS not a HK diopter type sight so it appears their setup is on a standard AR platform with no issues. I suppose I should quit playing email tag and get on the phone, from what I understood, once you mount an optic you own it and it's considered used.

But they make both the magnifier mount and the RDS mount. No reason why there can't be more than one solution at a $700 dollar price point. I don't want something that "kind of lines up but should work."

If I use their magnifer mount with their RDS mount, they should play good together. Consider that buying both from Larue will cost you over $1k.

This is a huge consideration for me as I am in the market for a new optic.

The slight offset depicted on their website isn't really a big deal to me. I just want my rig to mirror what is depicted on their website.

I do not own an HK 416 so I can not say for sure, but the rails on the dedicated piston guns may be a little taller to accomadate the piston system so the mount needs to be shorter to achieve the same co-witness. Now as for the 3xMag, the guys are right and you can adjust it to center your dot. As for the mount...if you bought it directly from LaRue, call them and explain the situation (you are using a DI gas gun, right) and MAYBE they can work a switch for an LT-660 mount. Give it a try. Also, move your H-1 mount to the muzzle end of your upper and see if the perspective improves as their combination shows it mounted at the end of the rail on the upper. I know you probably have but check and see if your pivot mount is indeed a SHORT mount (the default one to order in the drop down box on their site is the TALL one)! Good luck!

That was the first thing LT asked me to check. I removed the magnifier from the mount and there is either a 3S or a 3T on the ring. It indeed was a 3S. I originally positioned the RDS at the far forward end of the upper receiver. It's just as awkward to look through but obviously a little harder to draw the imaginary lines from one lens to another to see just how far the alignment is off. But whether it is fwd or back a couple rails doesn't affect the overall function or lack thereof in my case.

I just don't I see how mounting the HK mount on an AR platform would cause this. It will only affect co-witness if you were trying to attain a lower 1/3. If you used tall mounts with an HK diopter sight you would have no co-witness but the magnifier and the optic should still line up.
