Been doing a lot of shooting the last week or so with the Battle Comp on my rifle. Shot a match Friday night, and Sat morning and then again the next Friday. Got a bunch of video of the BC rocking hard! Got some video of the BC being fired in complete darkness, using PMC Bronze, which is the ammo I have got the most flash out of and it still isnt bad at all
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Enx6jnky8XU
Shot some of the match with a helmet cam on, like going through the shoot house
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmvpPYZCtFA Everyone in the house remarked how easy it was on them compared to a lot of the brakes being used
After the match we shot some drills on the stages already set up. Ran some of the VTAC drills. Did the 1-5 Drill here in 3.97

And lastly, doing some shooting at the range Friday, doing some movement and screwing around with the helmet cam

Marty,
I used a TROS adapter to mount the BABC to my Para. The exit of the adapter is a bit bigger than the bore, about .35" diameter for about .5", roughly the length of the threads of the BABC. Do you think that might reduce the effectiveness of the BABC?

It should have no ill effect on the performance of your FAL. In fact, I suspect that this may even improve it a small amount. I'd be interested in your eval after you get some rounds through your system.

I would be real interested as well. I have been thinking I would like to try my G3 clone with a BC.

I test fired for function the AR I've been assembling, a precision rifle with a 20" medium weight Lothar Walter barrel, Leupold Mk IV and an UBR stock. The first shot went well, with the bolt locking back on an empty magazine. The rifle has a BC1.0. From the offhand, it surprised me, as there was almost no discernible recoil. I lowered the rifle and had to visually check to see if it fired. I loaded four more rounds into the magazine and shot with the rifle resting on the shaky barricade at the local indoor range. Not surprisingly, there was more felt recoil, however I don't feel it's fair to evaluate the BC 1.0 fired in this mode. Again, firing was to test for function only.
I also ran 40 rounds through the Para from the offhand. First, I adjusted the gas system. This is done by loading a single round in the magazine and opening up the gas ring (to bleed off more pressure) after each shot until the round extracts but does not lock back on the empty magazine. The process is continued but now the gas ring is closed one click at a time until the bolt locks back. Then open it one or two more clicks to ensure proper function.
Previously, with the Belgian muzzle brake, if I recall correctly, the gas was set around 3 or 4. With the BABC, the setting is between 4 & 5. (The larger the number, the larger the opening which reduces the pressure in the gas system.)
I did not shoot the two muzzle devices back to back, but there seemed to be less muzzle rise with the BABC. Recoil felt less violent, smoother and more linear with less cheek slap. Not that the Para Fal kicks hard, overall, the rifle is more pleasant to shoot. I have not fired the Para with just the flash suppressor.
There were no complaints from the folks shooting next to me on either side. There were none from the previous session when we test fired the Para with the Belgian muzzle brake, which surprised me. After the experiences I've had with other brakes, I expected the Belgian brake to be obnoxious. It didn't seem to be.
Compared to the Belgian device, the BABC with the TROS adapter adds 1.5" to the length of the rifle with .75" being the adapter.
My intitial impressions are that the Battlecomp works as I want, providing greater muzzle control with little to no obnoxious side blast. I like them both. Further testing with back to back comparisons with the birdcage on the AR and the Belgian brake and the STG flash suppressor on the Fal will need to be made to give a fair evaluation

Thank you for the download on your results MistWolf. I'm glad the comps are working for you. I don't know what the Belgian brake looks like but evidently they did a good job designing it. Keep me posted as you get more rounds down range.

So...how about an AAC compatible Battle Comp?

Hope it's at the top of the list. I'd be all over a 51T battlecomp because I'm planning on the M4-2000 for my first suppressor. I'd put them on all my rifles that didn't have BCs already.
