Grant,
I just got your McFarland ring at my house. It provides noticeably increased pressure and resistance on the inside of the Bolt Carrier as compared to the one I got earlier from Brownells. I don't have a caliper set, but I think it's fair that people know that YOUR G&R Tactical McFarland rings are squared-away. If this is a shameless plug, so be it...I'm using this on my patrol rifle...and reliability is king to me. Just FYI the the other members.

The last time this issue came up I recommend to that OP that he contact Brownells and let them know about the issue. Has anyone doen that yet?

T4. They stated that there have been a few instances of this being reported to them. Brownells, as always, took care of me by shipping out another replacement McFarland ring at no cost to me. Since I have no way to verify if this ring will be G2G for now (a buddy has some calipers I can use, but he's across town), i ordered a set from Grant and noticed an immediate difference between the two. But, like I said, Brownells took care of me w/ no questions asked.
I just placed another large order at Brownells for various items about 5 minutes ago...I wasn't bashing them unlike some other posters....I'm sure they would never intentionally sell an undersized/out-of-spec gas ring. But they are an enormous company and sometimes stuff slips through the cracks. Shit happens. But they will continue to see my business as long as they keep prices reasonable and their CS at 100%.

McFarland one piece
finally measured my spares that I've got on hand .503, and .5035. the one in my rifle has 2000 rnds of wear and measures .5025. all were purchased in 08 from brownells . definitely would let whomever you order from about your issues, can't see that any retailer wouldn't work with you, IE: G&R, Brownells etc ,etc, all of these companies operate on the principal of happy customers spend more money with the companies that treat them right.

I called Brownells today and asked them for a replacement that had a larger OD. They are sending one free of charge.

I just got (2) of them in from Brownells today and they both measured in at .503".

Well I just got a McFarland gas ring from Brownells that measured 0.499". Undersize and unacceptable.
Brownells they had "just got a new batch in", as if my undersize ring wasn't related to the earlier bad rings. I hope Brownells will step up and measure their existing inventory and scrap it if necessary. As with any part, you either have to QC the item in house, or use a 100% a trustworthy supplier.
I sincerely hope that Brownells clears things up, 'cause they're a decent company. In the mean time, I would recommend specifying on your orders that McFarland gas rings must be 0.503" +0.001"/-0.000". If you ask, they should measure before shipping.
