How much benefit do you guys think we'd get from the buffer/spring combo with a regular A2 FH on the muzzle? I'd like a Battle Comp, but if I shelled out for one now I'd be on the couch...

We did have the same experience! :) I checked the ejection port every single shot for the first mag, expecting to see some type of malf. It ran like a sewing machine. Unbelievable!
Captain Dooley,
The muzzle brake does help with muzzle flip a lot. I would recommend maybe a triple port muzzle brake from patriot Ordnance Factory or a Rainier arms tactical comp with GearScout discount code (if the code still works) if you're on a budget. The weights will mostly help with the character of the recoil into your shoulder. The muzzle device is what does most of the work of keeping the muzzle down. I say "most" because the AR is a system and rarely does one part do 'just one job'. Confused yet?
The buffer weights and springs REALLY help with the way recoil is transmitted to your shoulder. It spreads the recoil out over a longer period of time, turning a sharp shove into a gentle push. The difference is immediately apparent and is quite marked. It's so much easier to shoot, you're first reaction is that the rifle short-stroked. It's that soft. If somebody here lives near you, I'd say just go and shoot his/hers. It will open your eyes. I have a 16" mid length, which shoots 'harsher' than a 14.5" midlength, but enabled me to use a stronger buffer spring with the H3 in an effort to equal the systems' recoil impulses out. Mine still shot WAY smoother than the Colt 6920 w/ railed fore end (KAS I'm pretty sure), grip pod VFG, and aimpoint M3 w/ cantilever mount. That gun was easily two pounds heavier than mine (and weight mitigates recoil), but mine still shot smoother. All hail the H3 and Tubbs flatwire spring.:D
Just got my 14.5 Middy w/PWC556FC from BCM today.
Can't wait to mate it with one of my lowers with a Geiselle SSA and see how she does!
And post pics!!
Mine is on the way, hurry up UPS ! :D
Recoil Test from yesterday's shoot...

I shot my 14.5" middy with H2 buffer and FSC556 yesterday.
The "Holy shit" feeling was there, I can't imagine using an H3 buffer. Really, can the recoil get any less? It felt like a .22 mag already.
We did get some failures to lock back with the H3 yesterday with weak ammo. The gun cycles good, but the H3 really is a touch too heavy for 100% reliable lock back.
Interesting.... I may have to pick up an H2 to try instead of the H buffer I have now.
Great video Mark. :)
