T-1... all the way... The most important thing in a RDS is a reliable power source. everything else is secondary.EO's are just not as trustworthy, and there battery life will always be a limitation.
I want.. no.. need my optic to always work... I can trust the T-1 to do that...
Aimpoint hands down they've been at it for a while and know what they're doing.
Specifically the T-1 if I had a choice.
Factor in your eyesight as well. if you are astigmatic and you do not have any correctives lenses, the 65 moa retical of the eotech becomes a very large, nearly unusable pixelated blur. The aimpoint is but one much smaller and more usable dot.
In 03/04 I bought an eotech because I liked the open nature of the sight and the dual nature of the 65 moa retical. I fully acknowledged that it was "tough enough" for my application v. the aimpoint/going down range for real etc. It was also cheaper as it did not require a mount etc.
If I was to buy another RDS today, I would go with an aimpoint and not look back given its reliabilty/batt life superiority over the eotech.

If you don't have the budget for an H-1, mount, and BUIS
Then the ML3 with BUIS is the correct option for you. I don't see why that was so quickly dismissed, as that's a fantastic carbine optic setup.
For $600 you can rather easily get an H-1, ADM Mount, and MBUS Rear; for a bit less you can easily find a used ML3 with LT mount, and DD fixed rear BUIS.
Even more dismissed is the CompC3. It's more than adequate for those not on a battlefield.
I'm surprised as the amount of people buying the more expensive variant, such as a T-1 over an H-1, when they have no intention on running night vision or punching out of a sub.
I don't understand the question. Why not just put a BUIS with the aimpoint if you are concerned?

Not so; he specifically wants to know about a micro WITHOUT buis VS an EoTech WITH buis in a HD situation. Since my house is 1700 square feet and my lot is a half acre, HD for me is going to be a close up encounter.Quote:

OP, you didn't specify what model EoTech (like you did spec an Aimpoint micro model) but I would get an EoTech XPS in your situation.
You said to say why, so here's why: $200 less, 1/3 co witness without an additional mount to buy, CR123 battery mounted sideways = better battery life and should eliminate past battery contact issues, small size compared to earlier Eo models, I like the EoTech sight picture with the 1 moa dot and 65 moa circle, durability not an issue for me as a friend, Alex M, who has spent two tours in Afghanistan used Eotechs and said he had no issue with them (changed the battery the 1st of each month and I can afford that) and since he is SF I know he put them to use.
I have a T-1/Larue Tall Mount and a Comp M4/Larue mount on my carbines and an Eo 511 as a back up in my bag.
I will be buying an XPS 2-0 for my new 7" Adams Arms SBR because I really like it and because I believe it will have solved all the durability and performance issues that every swinging dick on the internet who just has to bash Eotech uses as ammunition, and because I am confident that I can shoot a bad guy in my hallway even if the reticle was dead but I don't believe it will be an issue.......
I really like the XPS and will not let the usual anti EO comments keep me away because I trust Alex M's input more than all the internet commandos.............. and watch how many are going to feel obligated to attack EoTech now. ;)
I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread, I decided to go w/the Aimpoint Micro (and I did end up adding BUIS) instead of the Eotech 517 w/BUIS.
