The BCM uppers are nice, quality, and a good deal. However, if you want to, there are Colt 11.5" uppers out there. If interested, PM me and I'll give the site where you can look at them. Not going public b/c there are only a few and I want one.

Another for a BCM upper. I built this SBR earlier this year and put 5k rds through so far without a hiccup!

Another vote for BCM. You can even order it plain if you have your own rail you want to install.
I built my SBR using a BCM 11.5" barrel, M4 upper and the other necessities. It is very accurate and I can EASILY hit steel at 220 yds. using 55gr. ammo and iron sights.
If BCM is an option, BCM is THE answer. Especially at these prices.
BCM is an awesome upper and they are on sale for like $385! I have a hammer forged BCM waiting for the tax man to approve a BCM SBR Lower. I had the same question as you. Is it worth another$ 100? I was told the accuracy and life of the bbl would improve with a hammer forged bbl. The light weight uppers look sound great are they avalible yet? If your building now I would jump on a BCM upper and id add the BCM bolt carrier group like Gunz said. I think i paid$ 525 for my upper six months ago.
I've not shot the 11.5" yet but have fired my 16" and 14.5" mid length BCM uppers and they rock.
sweet, thanks everyone.
If it's cheap, and exceptional, it's probably BCM.
I have and will pick a KAC every day of the week, but damn if BCM doesn't make a good product.
My sister built a 12.5'' Kino upper with KAC FF RAS 7'' and KAC suppressor, and it's beautiful. After the NFA registration on her DD lower passes it'll be sweet. (Only took 3 months for the suppressor to go through.)
We've shot it on my KAC lower and it's amazing. BCM makes a great product.
No issues in SBR Suppressed configuration.
