The DD Fixed 1.5 is probably just about the lightest rear you can run, but of course you give up elevation adjustment. If that's cool with you, rock on, if not, you can step up to LMT's compact A2 unit for I think about an oz more.

I must confess that in an ideal world I'd run the LMT rather than the carry handle, but I got a good deal on the carry handle and like the way it looks better anyway, so... yeah.

I like the LMT best, but I've had the LaRue, and it's a tough unit. A good friend had the Daniel Defense, and it seemed really tough, and really light (though I don't there's much weight difference between any of these). I'm not big on the carry handle, only because I wouldn't use it as a carry handle (not much room for your fingers anyway). Best use of a carry handle, if you already have one, or if you can get one cheap, is to chop the front end off, for a home made LMT type, stand alone, iron sight. If you don't have a carry handle sitting around already, or can't find a cheap one, the Daniel Defense looks real good, as it's inexpensive, and there's elevation adjustment available in your front sight. The new Troy fixed rear sight looks good, too, but I haven't had a chance to see one in person.

I have the DD on my 9mm AR and love it. I am a fan of the LMT but hate the big mounting nut. RRA has what I consider an improved version here: RRR Fixed Rear sight

I am using a set of MBUS on my .50 Beowulf until I figure out what optics I want on it. They have worked very well for me. There have been no issues with the added recoil of the Wulf. I did add the included roll pin to fix the front sight post in position but it worked fine without it...

My first set of MBUS are still going strong, and I've not been the slightest bit nice to them. I have high confidence in Magpul product, but I was very cynical about the MBUS.

That being said, they are a BACK UP sight, not a primary sight. While able to perform as a primary, they are suboptimal for same.

I'll echo what others have stated. I own a rear MBUS that is on a rifle that uses a fixed FSB and an Aimpoint T-1. For me, I view the MBUS as an acceptable backup should the Aimpoint go down. I would not use the MBUS as part of a primary sighting system.

I don't own any myself but a friend has a S&W MOE edition and I helped him sight it in.

I liked the way they flipped up but they were very "coarse" on both the adjustments and the sight picture. They work great for him but not as "precise" feeling as the Troy that I have on mine.

He is looking for something to replace them now as he doesn't want any optics for some reason.
