When I think of being locked up tight, I picture the bolt still fully engaging the lugs and the reason you can't retract it is that there's something impeding the cam pin which is not allowing the bolt to disengage. If that's the case here, I can't figure out what you pried against with the screw driver, did you just pound on the charging handle? If the bolt rotated and disengaged then you would expect the whole BCG to just slide to the rear. If it started to retract then stopped, what caused it to stop? I'm not doubting what you're saying, I'm just trying to picture in my mind what could have happened.
Also, I'm assuming you didn't end up with a double feed or a bolt override that jammed things up, correct? No unfired cases with big gouges along the body?
