love it already! Well see next weekend at the three gun
I just bought a used FN carry handle with the intent of doing this also. Going for an early CQB/Mk18 kind of look.

Didn't realize LMT's sight was cast, thanks for the info.
That said, how much of a difference does it really make in the application of a BUIS. It's not likely to get beat on much (figure the optic itself or the stock is much more likely to take a hit) and when it does, I doubt it'd be enough to break it either way.
Do LMT sights have a track record of breaking?
I don't think it used to be. But a year or so back someone posted a pic of the underside of two LMT sights.
One was hollow in the bottom. The thought was that one of them might me a chicom knock off, but LMT confirmed that the hollow unit was legit.
I've never heard of one breaking, but I'm all about over-engineering.
If you already have the carry handle (and the know how), go for it. I personally don't trust my machining skills and therefore am looking to buy an LMT tactical back up sight. Either way, good luck.
The LMT sight is way lighter.
Hello,
For the sake of anyone that may not know that there's two different types of carry handles and are thinking about getting themselves an extra handle to cut down, keep in mind that you'll need one that's compatible with your FSB. What I mean is, if your gun has an F Height FSB, then you'll need a Colt or Mil-Spec Handle and if your gun has a standard height FSB, then you'll need a commercial handle.
Here's an old thread that will help you understand why.
