Good point. So I guess we should dump our good guns and get Model 1 Sales rifles in the hope that they break often so that we will get lots of experience fixing them.

Depends on what you buy from them. They sell many name brand parts. Use Model 1 as another source for big name parts when parts are out of stock elsewhere. I have bought Magpul Pmags and mag followers, YHM, RRA,etc. and Barrett 6.8 mags from them. They make good products right? Stay away from barrels, bolt carrier groups or BCG componants.
If you do order form them, upgrade to a chrome-lined barrel. Their standard barrels are button rifled and good for maybe 4,000 rounds. I got about 3,500 out of one before it was thoroughly toasted.
Seriously man, try and read your posts from the perspective of somebody who isn't trying to justify their previous purchase of a Model 1 sales gun...
By the way shooting 600 rounds in a year plus time through one gun is not really a lot - so the failure you experienced is pretty bad and telling of M1S guns..
the thing is they made good on the issue, far better service than i have had from rock river. trust it with my life, no. good for fun and varmint shooting, yes. which is what the average ar owner will do. i guess the tweeking and fixing would have better stated by building your own from parts. i did jump on that a bit hard. one that note, my last was built on a daniel defense barrel put together by pk firearms. we have strayed from the original question about a1 stocks. check the ee on here, arfcom, or gunbroker. M1 sales stocks are crappy
The real issue is that you for an upper that was substandard and could probably have purchased a quality one for a little more.
I went to their website just now and saw that they charge 55.00 for a standard bolt assembly. Of course, they provide ZERO specs on that bolt. I can almost guarantee that they are not HP/MPI tested. So why pay that price when you can get a good one for about 12.00 more?
You said that it is probably good for plinking or varmint hunting. But considering that some of use shoot 600 rounds in one or two sessions I don't see how buying their stuff is a "deal". Especially if you pay 1000.00 for a training course and your Model 1 crap ends up putting you out of training.
We have discussed their stuff here before. It is for the most part crap that un-informed people buy. We try to educate people at M4C and prevent them from learning that the hard way.
