I just installed a troy version of this handguard today. I picked the Troy as it came with the specialty tool rather than the VTAC. Installed a 13" version on a 16" mid-length. I cut down and heavly profiled the original FSB. I am very pleased with this handguard as it works out great with the pencil barrel. I thought the JP handguard was narrow but this is even smaller. Really like this setup, almost wish that I hadn't installed a JP on my other 16" rifle.
If someone wants to trade an 11" for a NIB 13" drop me a PM.
I like mine alot !!! I have the 13 Extreme on my 14.5 BBL AR. I wanted the 11 inch myself and when I went to a local gun show all the guy had was the 13 inch & said if I didn't like it I could send it back & he would send me the 11 inch !! Sooooo,,with that said I went ahead and installed the 13 incher & I "really" like it,,would the 11 incher "L(.)(.)K better,,probably, but how it looks is the least of my concern, but with the extra length I have a better sight plane for my Irons and I'm a big guy anyways,,,so I don't feel that it is overly long when I reach out and grab the rifle !!! Here is a pic of my rifle,,I have changed the grip and a couple small items, this pic was shortly after I finished putting it together and the Magpul Green grip was all I had,,, LOL !! Anyways,,try it,,ya mite like it !!!:D

If you're unsure of the configuration you want to run, and you have a FSB, I'd make sure you can get the FSB pins in and out before buying the rail.
I was using a 9" rail on a midlength with a FSB, now I'm using a 13" on a middy with a low profile gas block.
Well from what I was seeing in the pic of the one on the middy w FSB - it wouldn't be that easy to remove, which was why I was confused. Though honestly I would likely not change much since all I'd have on would be a sling attachment, a light and a VFG/AFG, so it might be something I'd try anyway.
That's basically what I was picturing, but on a 14.5" upper. I think it's a clean-cut looking platform, and it's different from any other rifles I'm running now.
(That above statement made me realize how much I should probably hate you all, lol... I had just bought my first AR at post #1 on here... no telling how much money you have all cost me... :) )
If you are running with a low pro gas block and a pinned FH can you still get the tube off without trouble to install rail pieces ?
Also has any one run one of these with a VFG and some kind of rail covers such as XTM's ?
