FWIW, the LW shown in the has a .750" gas bloc. However even on barrels that have a.25 gas block they lose some of the weight advantage simply because the difference is made back up with the FSB having thicker rings. Which means that really all you save is the difference between the .750" diameter and .625" diameter for the area between the two barrel rings of the FSB.
I say all that to say that you might MIGHT save another .5 oz with a "true" lightweight barrel and a .625" gas block.
I have weights for the handguards as well I'll post later, which is something to keep in mind when comparing Dissy to standard Middy. The extra length of plastic and shields adds weight, and weight out at the end of the lever.
Rob... excellent comparison. Thank you.
Subjectively... how do you like the feel and handling of it? Do you think that a MOE rifle length hand guard would make a nice improvement? Possibly a bit lighter than the traditional hand guard? Is the rifle nice enough to encourage you to recommend it or too much compromise in weight/out front balance?
Do you feel it handles well enough and is not prohibitively (too much) heavier than alternatives for use as a day long shooter?
