Someday if my wallet can take it I want to get a Mike Rock 5R blank and send it to ABS to make it into a carbon composite 18" mid-length for my 3gun rifle. The older I get the more I like my rifles as light as possible. :p
Not to side track too much, but how long would that barrel last with the competition shooting you do?

At one time, LMT farmed out their barrels. I do believe that they make them all in house now.

Much longer than a regular chrome-moly or SS barrel which last about 10K (and are shooting 2MOA by then). The ABS barrel should last 3 times that if not better since they cool much quicker.

I know.
I had one sent to me that would not run correctly.
The gas port was oversized.
I installed a bushing and it now runs just fine.
