I just saw this on gunbroker. Already at $1500 and the reserve isn't met? Are these lowers that expensive or is it just supply and demand?

They are that expensive because of s&d. ;)
This thing will go north of 2 grand.
My DD and BCM blem lowers work just as good I suspect. If someone has a Magpul lower they could sell it and fund a really nice build.
Few Magpul lowers were released, and they were sold as complete weapons. There have been 3 series, each sold out the same night they were released.
Very lower numbers and Magpul clearly stating that they will not be doing these receivers again create a very collectible item.
I feel I would much rather have a whole functioning rifle versus an unused "trophy" lower in my safe. If I did have one I would sell it or use the shit out of it like it was meant to be used. Anyways, you have any good "Magpul Lower Porn" to share?
I remember seeing those on Noveske's site when they were up for sale, I really wish I bought one back then, oh well.
Granted, the lines on the Magpul lower are awesome. But is this form factor patented? Why doesn't somebody just cut a block of 7075-T6 aluminum in the same pattern with different branding?
Its purple....:sarcastic:
But then they won't say Magpul on them...which is probably 90% the reason why people like them so much :D
Good Lord,,,,LOL,,build it and they will come,,especially if it has Magpul on it !!!! The lemmings will follow and run around like crazy people just to have it,,,LOL,,Pretty funny,,yet sad !!!! :D I'm sure it will have "Collector" Value,,,but 2 Grand worth is a bit much,,but hey,,lucky for the guy that has it and can get that !!! Its a free market,,get what ya can while ya can !!!
That auction gets me thinking of selling off a couple
Magpul lowers.
That lower is almost at the selling price that I payed for one of the
complete Noveske Magpul Spr rifles
Collectable cool aid and there nothing wrong with that, to each there own. For guys into billet have at it.
Does anyone know how much they were selling for when they first came out?
The other thread said they were $3k with the noveske.
Stick, I know guys that have them use them my friend. But I am sure there are some who only purchased for an investment. But to each their own. I just wouldn't pay that much for a part unless it shit gold.
The OP's linked auction is now at an even $2,000 -- and the reserve still has yet to be met.
I honestly had no idea that MPL A receivers were commanding these kinds of prices. It does strike me as a bit crazy, but market forces are what they are, I suppose. When the day comes that I can trade a Magpul lower for a nice SR25, it's all over. ;)

22 bids drove the price nearly to 3K. Reserve still wasn't met!
Reserve doesn't need to be met in order to sell.
Set an insanely high price you know will never be met in the time frame allowed.
After auction end, go down the line of bidders starting from the last high bidder and see who wants to pony up the cash for your item.
This way you can let the masses make the price run away to sky high levels and sell to the first sucker that actually has the money to part with.
If you have the disposable income for it, more power to you.
For $3k I could outfit two rifles, buy several thousand rounds of ammo and have money left over for classes...
Thats ridiculous. Even if I collected ARs....and I love Magpul.
I don't know where you're shopping, but I'm only going to be in my rifle about $1350. And it's all Daniel Defense and Magpul. I could've gone cheaper on some of the parts and built a basic rifle with iron sights for close to $1000. I just bought a 1000 round case of fiocchi brass cased 223 for under $300. Thats 2000 for rifles, 600 for 2 cases of ammo, and 400 for classes. Sounds doable to me.
The auction closed just under $3,000 with the reserve not met.
That is ridiculous ... though it is also giving me quite a bit to think about.

HERA Arms in Germany makes a billet lower which is remarkably like the Magpul one. Even their logo is sort of similar.

Unfortunately the answer is no. I asked the US importer of HERA parts,
LAN World Inc if they could get it and they said that the ATF had denied their import application.
Given what I recall about the way that Hera, Oberland and even HK GmbH worked while I was in Germany, I would be very surprised if those receivers had a MILSPEC-compatible takedown pin configuration. German ARs tend to be proprietary in this respect in order to comply with domestic legal requirements (i.e. semi-automatic rifles are permissible, but they cannot be readily backwards-compatible with any standardized military arm).
