I really want one too, all indications is it won't be at retailers until at least SHOT 2011.
The 51-tooth 762-SD is available now, retails for $875.
The new 51-Tooth 762-SDN-6 should be available around/at SHOT this year. It retails for $1050 plus mount.
Differences- the "N-6" is about 1.25" shorter, and due to some internal changes is a few dBs quieter.
The "SD" has an Inconel blast baffle and the rest of the baffles are stainless. The "N-6" has a full-inconel stack, including the endcap, explaining the price difference.
For 762 SBRs or full-auto, the "N-6" will hold up to more torture.
They weigh about the same.
They both make excellent multi-cal cans- 308, 300 AAC, 6.8, 5.56...
They will both continue to be made.
Hope that helps some.
you can go here: http://www.300aacblackout.com/ scroll down to near the bottom and there's a link to download the infosheet for the 762-sdn-6.
Thanks alot Jason.
Well I know there's at least one outside of AAC right now. :D
I'll be shooting it Tuesday.
Thanks for the update. I have to ask: is the "few dBs quieter" due entirely to the baffle design change? I've never heard of inconel being any quieter than stainless. So it must be the design, right?
Full auto users will appreciate the all-inconel stack. So will 7.62 SBR shooters.
I don't own a full-auto & do not plan to own a 762 SBR. I doubt most customers own a lot of such guns (though there are always a few).
Couldn't you simply offer a shorter, lighter, 51 tooth 762-SD with the re-designed baffles made of a mix of inconel/stailess, and offer it at the lower price of the current 762-SD?
Just asking, and thanks for what you guys do.
According to the Mers video, they added an extra inconel baffle to the SDN can while also making it shorter.
