Any ideas on when the new AAC 762 SDN will hit retailers? Any ideas on the price? I hear it will be more than the regular 762 SD. I WANT ONE!!!
I really want one too, all indications is it won't be at retailers until at least SHOT 2011.
The 51-tooth 762-SD is available now, retails for $875.
The new 51-Tooth 762-SDN-6 should be available around/at SHOT this year. It retails for $1050 plus mount.
Differences- the "N-6" is about 1.25" shorter, and due to some internal changes is a few dBs quieter.
The "SD" has an Inconel blast baffle and the rest of the baffles are stainless. The "N-6" has a full-inconel stack, including the endcap, explaining the price difference.
For 762 SBRs or full-auto, the "N-6" will hold up to more torture.
They weigh about the same.
They both make excellent multi-cal cans- 308, 300 AAC, 6.8, 5.56...
They will both continue to be made.
Hope that helps some.
you can go here: http://www.300aacblackout.com/ scroll down to near the bottom and there's a link to download the infosheet for the 762-sdn-6.
Thanks alot Jason.
Well I know there's at least one outside of AAC right now. :D
I'll be shooting it Tuesday.
Thanks for the update. I have to ask: is the "few dBs quieter" due entirely to the baffle design change? I've never heard of inconel being any quieter than stainless. So it must be the design, right?
Full auto users will appreciate the all-inconel stack. So will 7.62 SBR shooters.
I don't own a full-auto & do not plan to own a 762 SBR. I doubt most customers own a lot of such guns (though there are always a few).
Couldn't you simply offer a shorter, lighter, 51 tooth 762-SD with the re-designed baffles made of a mix of inconel/stailess, and offer it at the lower price of the current 762-SD?
Just asking, and thanks for what you guys do.
According to the Mers video, they added an extra inconel baffle to the SDN can while also making it shorter.
Must be nice to have friends that give you cool stuff
It all has to go back when I'm done. Well, all but the ammo. Not really a way to go dig that out of the berm...
:sarcastic:
Please, ask away, glad to answer if i can.
The sound difference is completely due to the internal design, not materials. The materials simply up it's durability.
A 762-SD built like an "N-6", but stainless, would still cost more than the current 762-SD... extra baffle, spacer, more welding and modified baffles.
Fair enough & thanks for the explanation!
I am pleased with your company's products (18T 762-SD owner) and I would recommend them to others. My can does not "back off a tooth or two" and does not loosen up at all. In addition to 5.56 duty, I will probably have a 26" tube for 300 Win Mag threaded for a AAC brake & use it on that too.
Like others, I will bring up minor constructive observations; I would like to buy a Blackout threaded left hand for 30 cal AKs but that does not seem to be offered.
Also, I'd like less/no "front toward enemy" marking, and maybe more Rachel on the site. OTOH, I am sure you have customers who don't appreciate the lifestyle & want LESS Rachel and MORE "front toward enemy" type stuff. There is no pleasing everyone all the time.
Ha, thanks- I welcome comments, criticism, compliments, thoughts, observations, whatever.
"pleasing" everyone is the impossible task for sure, but we do try.
As for the particular thread- we are constantly expanding thread pitch offerings (I know it is never fast enough)... 30 cal LH- what is the thread pitch?
Rob, now that you spent some quality time with the can, what are you willing to share??
I'm obviously not Rob, with that in mind.
I've had one since before Military Times released the information about the caliber and upper. To say that I was skeptical about claims of begin more quiet than a MP5 would be an understatement, but I've got to say that I'm impressed.
Would it be possible to use this suppressor with 300WM?
hmm...i'm awaiting for my sbr stamp. but, the thought of buying a suppressor that will both fit my 5.56 sbr and .308 bolt gun is intriguing.
Jason - proud 762SD and old style m4-2000 owner here.
That said I am 18Tooth everywhere and going to 51 not an option. Hope the 18T option stays alive.
I too would love to see a 762x39 QD option.
I would also be interested in a mount that would match to a 556 ak and a 762 ak.
Sorry, lost track of this and didn't know I was spilling beans. I'm trying to put together a video with various shots of various cans put together.
It was kind of amusing shooting it in the EAG class where a lot of people didn't realize it was a new round, and who expressed disapointment that their 5.56 can wasn't as quiet. :D
I can say that the broad range of functionality of the N-6 has me reconsidering my can bias. Having a single silencer that can be used for:
- .308 bolt-action
- .308 semi-auto
- 6.x
- 5.56 AR
- 5.56 bolt-action
- .300 BLK bolt-action
- .330 BLK semi-auto
- 7.62x39mm AK
- 5.45.x39mm AK (presumably)
has a lot of potential. I know that a standard .308 silencer can do all that but until the N-6 they were all prohibitively long IMHO.
