Good point...I'll go ahead and do both the upper/lower in FDE Cerakote.

Reanodizing opens up the pin holes and makes the pins loose no mater what anyone else will tell you.
I would not repaint them either.
You will ruin the value of your parts.
I would just leave them the way they are.
If your that worried about value, then the only way to not affect it, is to never shoot it, pack it in foam and bubble wrap to protect it.
Is this rifle going to be shot and used? Do what you want. it is your rifle. is it going to make it worth less, to some maybe, to others no. is it going to be worth the cost of the lower plus the cost of painting, not.....but it will not be worth less the the base cost of the upper/lower. you are getting what you want. you are going to shoot and use the rifle.......if you are that worried about value being maintained, buy gold....not guns.
Give me a ****ing break.
Refinishing a gun does not increase its value, is decreases its value signicantly even if it is used.
You cannot give me one example of a refinished gun that has sold where the buyer got the cost of the gun back plus the cost of the refinish.
Where did the OP ever bring up maintaining the value of the parts? He didn't.
OP if you want to paint then paint. Krylon, Carekote, whatever. Or if you want to try re-anodizing and don't mind risking your parts then go for it. Its your gear, make it your own. Just know a lot here who aren't going to care about upper/lower color match or tight fit because they have no bearing on its performance as a tool but that doesn't mean you can't do whatever to it makes you happy
That really depends on the firearm and the buyer. A 1898 Derringer in 41 rimfire short would loose collector value to be refinished. but an AR done in a Quality finish by someone who knows what they are doing is not going to be worth significantly less. Maybe to you it is worth less because it is not what you like or want....well, keep moving, there will be someone along who likes and wants it.
If you look at what I said........you will see I DID NOT say this.....
People do not paint a firearm to increase the value (unless your gunsmith and that is what you do)....they do it to get what they want......
I am concerned about decreasing the value of the parts. I often hold onto uppers for a few months, sell them, and buy other uppers.
Would a new 14.5" Noveske Afghan upper painted in Cerakote FDE have the same value as one with the factory finish?
I would consider Cerakote on a rifle I plan to shoot and hold onto for years, although I would be concerned about the durability of the finish.
